Ian Wright Claims He Would “Take” Man Utd Star To Arsenal Amid Interview Controversy

BACK David Tully Dec 18th 2025 Arsenal legend Ian Wright says he would “take” Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes to the Emirates “tomorrow” if it were possible. The Portuguese international has expressed his disappointment at the club’s behaviour when an offer for him was received from Saudi Arabia. Assessing United’s actions on The Overlap, Wright said: “So someone comes in for Bruno Fernandes last summer… you shut that down. He didn’t want to go. Bruno is basically saying the club went, ‘it’s up to you if you want to leave’. That’s not what you want to hear when you’re the person who has basically held the club up by yourself.” “You want the club to say, ‘you’re not going nowhere, you’re a massive part of this’. But Manchester United didn’t do that. They gave him the option and said, ‘if you want to go, you can go’. What is that saying to him? I would take him tomorrow.” Fernandes does have a release clause in his contract It should not be forgotten that the 31-year-old is allowed to leave for a club outside England if a bid of €65m (£57m) is tabled. In that circumstance, it is not in United’s hands as to whether to reject the offer. It is Fernandes’s decision, so that is where you do have sympathy for the club’s position on the matter. When that £100 million offer from Al-Hilal was made last summer, the Red Devils were never going to have the final say. Will Fernandes leave Man Utd? The midfielder has said that he will weigh up his future after the World Cup. He will not be departing Old Trafford during the January transfer window. Based on Fernandes’s remarks, though, it does appear there is a lack of trust between him and the club’s hierarchy, which could lead to a parting of ways sooner rather than later. We have assessed who could potentially replace him in this article.
