Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen has confirmed where Manchester United currently stand on Harry Amass and his short-term future. Looming decision on Amass Despite Wednesday’s struggles on and off the pitch, Amass is enjoying a brilliant loan spell with the Championship side. He has emerged as a key player in the squad since joining during the summer transfer window on a loan deal from the Red Devils. Amass has made 14 Championship appearances. He has started every game since arriving at Hillsborough. United and Wednesday agreed that Amass’s loan would initially run only until January. Because of the Owls’ financial difficulties, United have been paying the full cost of the teenager’s spell in South Yorkshire, including his entire salary. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the two clubs have been in talks over extending the loan deal, but United want certain terms of the agreement to be modified. As the winter transfer window nears, middle ground has yet to be reached but Pedersen is not worried, insisting that United want Amass to continue with Wednesday. Pedersen confirms United stance The Wednesday boss told The Star, “I know they are very happy, and, of course, they have to be very happy.” “He is in a team that has a lot of trust in him and who work very, very seriously with him as a part of the team, but also individually.” “He also has a group of fantastic mirrors in our team [in the form] of the senior players, where he can learn a lot.” Pedersen added, “He is in a good group where he has a big respect around him, and we have big respect for Man United giving us the possibility [to sign him] and I am sure they have big respect for how we have worked with him.” “I hope we can continue [to work with him] after January. Of course, he fits well in our way of playing, he is developing well and I cannot see any reason not do it.” Amass picked up the first senior assist of his professional career over the weekend, setting up a goal in Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat to Preston.
