Huge chapter closes for United as Amorim categorically rules out return for £60m star despite sensational form on loan – report

Manchester United took the difficult decision of loaning out Marcus Rashford in January after the forward’s relationship with new head coach Ruben Amorim broke down beyond repair.

The Portuguese opted to drop the Mancunian from the Manchester derby squad along with Alejandro Garnacho and while the Argentine got his act together, the Englishman threw his toys out of the pram.

He even went on to give an explosive interview to Henry Winter in which he claimed he was open to leaving his boyhood club. After the interview went public, Amorim doubled down and did not offer the Carrington graduate any minutes.

The England international seems to be slowly regaining his form at Aston Villa, registering four assists in nine games and even earning a recall to the England national team setup.

Rashford finding his feet at Villa

Unai Emery’s men hold the option of converting his temporary stint into a permanent move for £40 million but initially the 27-year-old had other plans.

The versatile forward was intent on pushing through a move to Barcelona who were close to sealing his signature in the winter itself.

But staying at Villa offers Rashford the best chance at continued selection for the Three Lions and he seems to have changed his mind but it remains to be seen what the team from Birmingham decide to do.

As per The Daily Star, should Villa send Rashford back to United, Amorim will not reintegrate the England international into the squad.

INEOS are delighted that the United No 10 is playing well for the Champions League side as the better he performs, the more the Red Devils can earn from his sale with the co-owners looking at raising £60 million from his departure.

Amorim still doesn’t want him back

“Ruben Amorim will not offer Marcus Rashford a Manchester United lifeline this summer. And United bosses will look to strike a permanent deal with Aston Villa for Rashford in the region of £60m.

“Since joining Villa, Rashford has rediscovered some of his best form and love for the game again. But however well he does in the Midlands, it appears there is no way back for Rashford at United.

“Amorim will look to sign a proven goalscorer this summer, and United hope Rashford continues to impress with Villa because it will increase his transfer value.”

The best-case scenario for the 20-time English league champions would be for Rashford to excel from now until the end of the season and for a bidding war to start so that they can earn more than £40 million.
