How to watch United v Bodo/Glimt

Tuesday 26 November 2024 12:48

Ruben Amorim will take charge of United at Old Trafford for the first time on Thursday, when the Reds face Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa League.

Four days on from Amorim’s opening match, last Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Ipswich in the Premier League, our new head coach will get his first taste of the Theatre of Dreams dugout in the 20:00 GMT kick-off.

Ahead of the game, here is all the essential information you need – from live coverage info to the latest team news, the current Europa League standings and more…

90 in 20 | Presenting extended highlights of our first top-flight meeting with Ipswich since 2002…

HOW CAN I FOLLOW THE GAME?

MUTV’s Matchday Live show gets under way at 18:55 GMT, featuring exclusive build-up and post-match reaction, either side of live radio commentary.

You can tune in via ManUtd.com and the United app, where our Match Centre will have rolling updates, opinions and stats across the 90 minutes, as well as the highlights two hours after the final whistle. Longer versions will be made available from Friday morning.

A limited number of tickets are still available to all fans, while supporters in the UK that are not at Old Trafford can watch the action live on TNT Sports.

WHAT’S THE TEAM NEWS?

Ruben could provide the latest on who’s available and who’s not during his pre-match press conference, which we will bring to you as it happens, after our live training coverage, on Wednesday.

Mason Mount and Luke Shaw both made their returns from injury off the bench at Ipswich on Sunday, while Kobbie Mainoo and Tyrell Malacia were involved in the senior matchday squad for the first time since their respective recent absences.

Summer signing Leny Yoro, who was not involved at the weekend, has been in team training as he builds up towards making his debut, while Harry Maguire has been working on his rehabilitation having been sidelined since October.

Fellow centre-backs Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez dropped out of the Sweden and Argentina squads respectively during this month’s international break and were also among those not to play a part at Portman Road.

OPPOSITION REPORT

Thursday’s trip to Old Trafford is the first of two mouthwatering games in the space of four days for Bodo/Glimt, who will be bidding to retain their domestic crown over the coming weekend.

The reigning Norwegian champions host Lillestrom on the final day of the 2024 Eliteserien season on Sunday, knowing that victory will be enough to win them their fourth title in the last five years.

Since appointing manager Kjetil Knutsen in 2018, one year after being promoted back to the top flight, Glimt have finished no lower than second place in the division and have become a regular on the European scene.

Knutsen’s side notably reached the quarter-finals of the Conference League in 2022/23 and have already upset Braga and Porto this term, with wins that have helped them accumulate seven points from their opening four Europa League matches – one more than United.

DID YOU KNOW?

The midweek clash in M16 will be our men’s team’s first-ever meeting with Norwegian opposition. Bodo/Glimt will be the third new visitors to M16 in this season’s Europa League, after FC Twente and PAOK.

Bodo/Glimt had never won Norway’s top division before Knutsen became boss in 2018.

EUROPA LEAGUE STANDINGS

As mentioned earlier, Bodo/Glimt are narrowly ahead of the Reds in the new 36-team standings, after four of eight matchdays in the league phase.

Both sides currently occupy a place in the knockout round play-off spots, in 12th and 15th respectively, but will have eyes on moving up towards the top-eight slots, which finishing in will secure automatic qualification for the last 16.

On six points, we’re currently three adrift of that pack, which is led by Italian outfit Lazio – the only team in the competition to have won all four of their outings so far.
