How to watch and follow Liverpool v United Women

Wednesday 12 March 2025 15:21

United Women return to WSL action on Friday evening, when Marc Skinner’s side travel to Anfield to face Liverpool.

The Reds are in fantastic form, with victory achieved in each of our last six games across all competitions, and by an aggregate score of 18-2. The most recent success – a 3-1 win over Sunderland – earned us a place in the last four of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup for the third successive season.

We’re second in the WSL table, and really well placed in regard to securing Champions League football next term – three points ahead of Arsenal and four clear of Manchester City.

Title hopes still linger too. We could close the eight-point gap to Chelsea (who have played a game more) to five this weekend, because the Blues are otherwise engaged: they’ll be at Pride Park come Saturday, taking on Manchester City in the Women’s League Cup final.

But to reduce our deficit to the reigning Women’s Super League champions, we must ensure all three points are bagged at 19:15 GMT on Friday. Here’s all the key info ahead of the Liverpool match, including ticket information and the latest team news…

HOW TO WATCH AND FOLLOW

Tickets are available to all supporters until 3pm on Thursday 13 March. We received an initial allocation of 1,500, including 20 wheelchair pairs. Tickets are priced £10 for adults, £5 for over-65s and £4 for under-17s. Click here to purchase.

If you aren’t able to get to the ground in person, you can watch the game live in the United Kingdom via BBC Three, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.

We’ll also keep you up to date on the United App and ManUtd.com, with minute-by-minute updates. Prime cuts of the action, plus extended highlights, will be made available across our platforms later in the weekend.

WHAT’S THE LATEST TEAM NEWS?

Reigning Player of the Month Elisabeth Terland missed last weekend’s FA Cup game, but Skinner said a judgment would be made in the build-up to this game on whether a return against Liverpool would be possible.

Jayde Riviere has been back in training, but was not named in the squad that took on the Black Cats on Saturday, but Anna Sandberg appeared as a second-half substitute and Lisa Naalsund was also fit enough to reclaim a place on the bench.

Simi Awujo is another player that missed the Sunderland game. We’ll find out more about the squad’s likely composition when head coach Skinner conducts his pre-match press conference tomorrow (Thursday).

HOW ARE LIVERPOOL GETTING ON?

It’s been a mixed season so far for Liverpool, with five wins, three draws and seven defeats leaving the Anfield club 15 points adrift of the top three, and behind Brighton & Hove Albion (fifth) before this weekend’s fixtures.

But the Merseysiders geared up for Friday’s game with a morale-boosting away win at Arsenal in the FA Cup, which earned them an exciting semi-final against league leaders Chelsea.

This will be the first time Liverpool’s female team have played under the floodlights at Anfield, and over 9,000 tickets have been sold, so it’s sure to be a thrilling 90 minutes amid a lively atmosphere.

DID YOU KNOW?

Should United win on Friday, we’ll equal our best sequence of results in the Women’s Super League. Success on Merseyside would make it eight consecutive league wins – a run which started, neatly, with a 4-0 romp over Liverpool at Leigh Sports Village back in early December.

Our best previous effort? That was recorded across the tail-end of the 2022/23 season and the start of 2023/24 – we won the final seven matches of the former campaign, and then added an eighth consecutive victory by beating Aston Villa 2-1 on the opening day of the following season.
