Ruben Amorim faces his toughest test yet as Manchester United head coach, as the Reds travel to in-form Arsenal on Wednesday.

The Gunners are the closest challengers to Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table following the weekend’s results, with Mikel Arteta’s men securing a resounding 5-2 win at West Ham United.

But confidence is high in our camp too, after back-to-back wins over Bodo/Glimt and Everton at Old Trafford and with key attackers among the goals.

It’s all set up for a blockbuster fixture then, live on Amazon Prime in the UK, and here’s what you need to know…

HOW TO WATCH AND FOLLOW

Wednesday’s game, kicking off at 20:15 GMT, will be our 11th live Premier League game shown on Amazon Prime Video in the UK and the channel has proved to be a good-luck charm.

We’ve won all our 10 games streamed by the broadcaster since it secured rights in 2019, including home victories over Chelsea and Aston Villa last season.

For those without access to Amazon, we will bring you over an hour of exclusive build-up from the Emirates Stadium via our Matchday Live show which begins at 19:10 GMT, before your live radio commentary of the fixture from M16.

Our channels are also the place to be for rolling updates, in-game stats and plenty more during the encounter via our Match Centre, as well as a bitesize edit of the highlights two hours after the contest concludes. Longer versions will be published on Thursday morning.

TEAM NEWS

We will unfortunately be without Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez for the game in north London, with both players suspended for one match having accumulated five yellow cards in the league this season.

Harry Maguire returned to action against Everton and could be a candidate to replace Martinez, while Luke Shaw is angling for a first start of the season after three substitute appearances so far under Amorim.

Jonny Evans has missed our last two outings, while Victor Lindelof and Leny Yoro have also been sidelined.

For the home side, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White are long-term absentees, while Mikel Merino and Thomas Partey are doubts, having sat out of Saturday’s visit to West Ham.

FORM GUIDE

United are now unbeaten in seven games across all competitions, beating Leicester City twice, PAOK, Bodo/Glimt and Everton, and drawing with Chelsea and Ipswich Town – the latter the only away match in that run.

Arsenal had a hiccup or two between October and November, going four Premier League games without a win, a sequence that included defeats at Bournemouth and Newcastle United and draws with Liverpool and Chelsea.

Martin Odegaard’s comeback from an ankle injury seems to have positively impacted the side, although red cards have also cost Arteta’s side dearly this season, with the Gunners having players sent off in three of their opening eight games.

Since returning from the international break, they seem to have discovered another gear though, convincingly beating Nottingham Forest and putting five past both Sporting and West Ham away from home.

Odegaard is Arsenal’s key creative force.

RECENT MEETINGS

Arsenal have had the firm upper hand in this fixture in recent years, winning five of the last six, and you’d have to go back to January 2019 for our last success in this corner of north London.

Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial were the scorers in a 3-1 Emirates FA Cup victory under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s caretaker management.

Lingard was also in the goals when we last took three league points home from the Emirates Stadium, winning 3-1 in December 2017.

The Academy graduate netted twice, after Antonio Valencia’s opener, while David De Gea famously pulled off 14 saves to prevent the Gunners from recovering.

Ruben does have a positive visit to N7 on his resume though, knocking the Gunners out of the Europa League on penalties with Sporting in 2022/23.
