Manchester United welcome Crystal Palace to Old Trafford this weekend as we look for back-to-back wins in the Premier League.

A victory at the Theatre of Dreams would be our fourth on the bounce in all competitions, with last weekend’s win against Fulham in the league sandwiched between positive results against Rangers and FCSB in the Europa League.

With our top-eight finish in the continental tournament confirmed on Thursday, attention turns firmly to our upcoming domestic tasks, with the Eagles first up on the list.

Palace’s visit is thought to come too soon for the return of Jonny Evans, Mason Mount or Luke Shaw. The latter of that trio, however, is firmly on the road to recovery.

“It can take a little bit more time,” Ruben Amorim said of Shaw in his press conference earlier this week. “He stayed there [at Carrington] to make a different type of work, he’s going to get together with the team when we arrive and start from there. When I feel it is the right moment, we will start with some minutes in the games.”

The Eagles are set to arrive in M16 without one of their key players, Eberechi Eze, as revealed by manager Oliver Glasner ahead of the game, after the forward picked up a knock against Arsenal in the League Cup that has caused problems ever since.

“Last week he almost didn’t train the whole week,” the Palace boss revealed. “And this week it started again. We want to get him pain-free, so he can perform at his best level, so he won’t go with us to Manchester.”

Elsewhere, Cheick Doucoure and Chadi Riad are expected to be out for the season with knee injuries, so will not be available for selection on Sunday.

FORM GUIDE

The Reds are currently in our strongest run of form since the arrival of Amorim, looking to extend our three-game winning streak to four on Sunday.

It’s been a mixed bag in recent weeks, with our last home Premier League outing ending in a 3-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion. That was a reverse of the scoreline in the previous home game, a 3-1 win against Southampton, where Amad’s sublime late hat-trick delivered all three points for United.

Glasner’s side are experiencing similar, with a six-game undefeated run in all competitions bookended by a 5-1 home defeat to Arsenal and their most recent 2-1 loss to Brentford at Selhurst Park.

They have been strong on the road of late, however, with back-to-back 2-0 wins against Leicester City and West Ham United before the loss to the Bees. Amorim and his charges will be working hard to disrupt that notable away form.
