“How is he still in the job?” Premier League legends urge United to sack Amorim following dismal Brentford defeat

Pressure on Manchester United to dismiss Ruben Amorim as manager continues to mount.

On Saturday, Man United suffered a 3-1 loss to Brentford, sending them down to 14th place in the Premier League standings.

As a result of this disappointing loss, Amorim has now lost the majority of his Premier League games at United, also recording the club’s worst win percentage since before the Second World War.

Understandably, criticism has been flying in Amorim’s direction consistently since this most recent defeat.

The United faithful voice their concerns

United legend Gary Neville let rip against Amorim following the Brentford game, saying that the team’s performance was “unforgivable.”

“He changes his back three and his back five every single game, and the performances and results are just unacceptable. I’m really, really worried,” Neville explained.

Another club legend and teammate of Neville, Rio Ferdinand, agreed with this sentiment, admitting that he would have hated to play in a team that is always being shifted around like this.

Still, it’s not just former United stars who have taken some big swipes at the struggling United boss.

Calling for Amorim’s head

Premier League legends Alan Shearer and Martin Keown have been enraged by Amorim’s poor form.

“Ruben Amorim is under massive pressure,” Alan Shearer stated, as quoted by TEAMtalk.
“I think the hierarchy have made so many errors since coming to the club, they can’t be seen to have made another in appointing this manager. I think he is very fortunate.”

Keown chimed in with his own brutal assessment: “They don’t look good enough. You then look at it, and he only has a win percentage 1% more than Graham Potter, who has been sacked. How is he still in the job?”

The former Arsenal man then claimed, “If he was 12 months after Ferguson, this would have been done weeks ago.”

In fact, former Everton player Ashley Williams also voiced his desire for Amorim to get the sack.

“I don’t want to say they change manager, but how long can this continue? It seems to be every week that we’re talking about it,” Williams noted. “I’m a fan of managers who have a style and stick to it. That isn’t working. You have to adapt. I don’t see where Manchester United go with this unless they change manager.”

With no signs of improvement beginning to show after almost a year in charge, it seems that Amorim may not have what it takes to turn United’s fortunes around.

Perhaps INEOS would do well to begin the search for a replacement before life at Old Trafford deteriorates further.
