How does the Premier League Summer Series work?

Manchester United are one of four clubs competing in the Premier League Summer Series.

The other sides taking part in the tournament are Bournemouth, Everton and West Ham United, with the action getting under way on 26 July.

The competition is spread across the United States and tickets are available to see the games.

MUTV subscribers can watch our games live, with the exception of American viewers, who can still take advantage of our on-demand videos.

Three venues are hosting the fixtures – the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Chicago’s Soldier Field and the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

There is a game taking place on the pitch before each of United’s fixtures, kicking off three hours earlier, so the grounds will contain fans from all four clubs.

THE TOURNAMENT RULES

The format follows the usual domestic points structure, with three on offer for a win and one for a draw.

The club with the highest number of points will win the Premier League Summer Series and, if teams are level, then goal difference will be the first metric to decide the victor.

If that is the same, it comes down to the most goals scored.

If the sides still cannot be separated, the head-to-head performance will come into play.

There will be no extra-time or penalty shootouts in these fixtures.
