Manchester United may finalise the exits of two out-of-favour forwards in the coming days.
United have done impressively well when it comes to incomings this summer, but the club’s hierarchy have struggled to offload their high-earning outcasts.
Having spent north of £200 million on new signings, the Red Devils are keen to raise funds from sales before the window shuts. In that regard, two Italian clubs could make their life easier.
Early this morning, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming AS Roma are confident of striking a deal with United for the transfer of Jadon Sancho. Now, a report in Italy suggests AC Milan are closing in on Rasmus Hojlund.
Hojlund willing to join AC Milan
According to Corriere dello Sport, Milan contacted Hojlund’s camp yesterday. The Rossoneri are now “accelerating the process” after receiving the youngster’s “approval”.
Hojlund initially showed reluctance to leave United, as he wanted to fight for his place under Ruben Amorim. However, United have signed Benjamin Sesko, who is expected to lead Amorim’s attack this season.
Accordingly, the Denmark international has realised he will struggle for regular minutes at Old Trafford. Instead of sitting on the bench at United, he would prefer to become a key part of Milan’s project.
The 22-year-old is willing to listen to the Serie A giants’ proposal, with Massimiliano Allegri keen to add him to his side.
Meanwhile, United are negotiating with Milan, who want to sign Hojlund on a season-long loan with a buy option. There is “confidence” the deal can be finalised “as soon as possible.”
AC Milan face competition for Hojlund
Milan hope to secure an agreement with both United and the player over the weekend.
However, they might face a last-minute obstacle, as Borussia Dortmund have also started making enquiries about Hojlund’s situation.
On Thursday, it emerged that Fulham are interested in the Dane as well amid concerns over Rodrigo Muniz’s future. Despite his struggles at United, the £72m ex-Atalanta sensation is certainly a man in demand.
