“He’s been invaluable”: United hero acting like a leader off the pitch with Academy stars gushing over classy gesture – report

Harry Maguire was responsible for one of Manchester United’s finest hours in recent history, heading in the winner in extra time to send the Red Devils into the semi-finals of the Europa League last Thursday.

The England international has come a long way, from almost being sold to abused day in and day out to now being hailed as a club hero.

He has won over Ruben Amorim with his displays in the middle of a back three, enough to earn a new contract extension which will keep him at Old Trafford until 2026.

The 32-year-old might not be captain anymore but he sure is acting like one off the pitch, which will please his head coach even more.

Maguire helping youngsters

According to The Daily Mail, Maguire is lending a helping hand to young academy starlets who have just broken into the first-team or are on the verge of it.

He has already helped Amass settle into the dressing room while the centre-back was the first to congratulate Tyler Fredricson after his brilliant debut.

Not only that but the likes of Jaydan Kamason, Jack Moorhouse, James Scanlon and Godwill Kukonki have all benefited from spending time with the former Leicester City star.

“Speaking to a source close to the academy this week, it was striking just how positive they were about the role Harry Maguire is playing with the youngsters coming through.

Maguire showing his class

“The centre back was key in helping Harry Amass settle into the first-team dressing room, and he was among the first to publicly praise Tyler Fredricson online following his debut against Wolves.

“But Maguire’s impact has extended to all of the rising stars coming through, from the likes of Jaydan Kamason and Jack Moorhouse to James Scanlon and Godwill Kukonki.

“He is a top, top bloke,” the source told Confidential. “He’s one of the nicest people you could ever meet and he’s been invaluable to the kids.”

Amorim will be hoping Maguire can continue his good form on the pitch when the Red Devils take on Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals of the Europa League next week.
