‘He’s a leader’: Bruno Guimaraes thinks Man United have a player in their ranks who’s ‘complete’

Bruno Guimaraes has poured praise on compatriot Casemiro, hailing the impact he’s still having on the current Brazil squad. Having made his national team debut all the way back in 2011 when he was just 19 years old, it’s safe to say the Manchester United star will be putting his expertise to use in guiding the next generation of Brazilian starlets.Casemiro enjoying key role under new head coach(Photo by Ryan Pierse/Getty Images)Even now at 33, Casemiro has remained an integral cog in the side since his former Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti, took the reins.Guimaraes, like the five-time Champions League winner, also opted to leave his home country to start plying his trade in Europe, initially with Olympique Lyonnais for two years before joining Newcastle United in a £40 million deal in 2022.He was 24 at the time of his switch to St. James’ Park, meaning he favoured a move to the English top flight much sooner than Casemiro, who only called time on his Madrid career when he’d grown tired of winning everything almost year on year.What did Guimaraes have to say about Casemiro?(Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images)After the pair played alongside each other for the Selecao’s double-header of friendlies over the break, the Magpies skipper told Globe Sports: “His background, his titles… he’s a complete player. His career speaks for itself.“In one of my first interviews with the national team, in 2020, when I arrived, they asked if I was inspired by anyone in midfield, and I said his name: Casemiro.“He’s also an idol there for everything he’s done, especially at Real Madrid – the five UCL titles.“A guy that everyone who plays in the Brazilian midfield talks about, Casemiro is the guy we have to follow. So I think it’s a bit of everything. He’s a leader.” At Old Trafford, the veteran is coming to the end of his tenure, although reports have suggested Ruben Amorim is keen to see Casemiro’s deal extended – even if only on a short-term basis with reduced financial terms.
