Heroic Martinez outstanding vs Fulham, but this United star should never wear the shirt again

Manchester United beat Marco Silva’s Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage. Here are our player ratings from the game.

(A score of 6 is around average)

Andre Onana 6 – Kept a clean sheet.

Matthijs de Ligt 7 – Defended astutely. Very solid performance.

Harry Maguire 6 – Also good defensively and looked to step into the midfield whenever he could.

Lisandro Martinez 8.5 – Amazing passing. Whatever little playing out from the back United managed was mostly driven by him. Also got high up to get involved in play and he broke the deadlock, giving his side the lead.

Diogo Dalot 4 – Just doesn’t offer enough as a wing-back. A few sloppy moments in possession.

Manuel Ugarte 5 – Combative in the middle of the park but needs to find better passes. It could make a world of difference in this team.

Bruno Fernandes 4 – Ineffective. Never really got into the game and recklessly gave the ball away multiple times, even under little to no pressure.

Noussair Mazraoui 5 – Mostly same as Dalot. Not good enough in the wing-back role. Got into some good positions but couldn’t capitalise.

Amad Diallo 6 – Didn’t see enough of the ball but still worked hard. Unlucky that his goal was ruled out.

Alejandro Garnacho 5 – Looked like he had something about him early on but he faded as the game proceeded and never got back into it.

Rasmus Hojlund 1 – Out of his depth tonight. Almost looked lost out there. Lost almost every duel, couldn’t make the ball stick and just wasn’t the focal point United needed him to be. Unsurprisingly one of the first ones to be taken off by the boss.

Substitutes

Joshua Zirkzee 3 – Wasn’t a significant improvement on Hojlund

Leny Yoro 6.5 – Picked up where De Ligt left off and helped United keep Fulham from breaching their goal.

Toby Collyer 7 – Heroic goal-line clearance that secured all three points for United. Made an impression when he was thrust into the action.

Tyrell Malacia 5 – Steady when he came on.

Kobbie Mainoo 6 – Fantastic work in the build-up to Amad’s goal, which was unfortunately chopped off.
