Manchester United made it three wins on the bounce by overcoming Fulham’s stubborn resistance 3-2 at Old Trafford on Sunday. Casemiro and Matheus Cunha scored for the Red Devils before the Cottagers pulled things back late on. Just when it seemed as though the match was heading for a draw, Benjamin Sesko popped up to score the winner. Under Michael Carrick, the Red Devils have scored late winners in all three games, with substitutes playing a key role. Even when a player does not start under the new caretaker head coach, they have the chance to make an impact off the bench. Mason Mount injured again Mason Mount had done that against Manchester City, only for the goal to be chalked off for a dubious offside call. He did not make it off the bench against Arsenal and, surprisingly, was not a part of the matchday squad on Sunday. Carrick revealed that the Englishman suffered a knock in training. The injury is not said to be serious, and he should be back soon. “He took a bit of a knock in training,” Carrick told Sky Sports (via club media). “But it’s nothing serious. Very poor injury record since joining United “We’re disappointed he is not with us today but he’ll be back very soon.” Apart from the versatile midfielder, United are also without Patrick Dorgu and Matthijs de Ligt for the foreseeable future due to injury. Mason Mount had started the season strongly under former head coach Ruben Amorim, but has since lost his way again due to frequent niggles. The former Chelsea ace does not have long to impress INEOS, with his injury record a major concern. Since joining the 20-time English league champions, the 27-year-old has missed over 50 games. Should he not get his act together within this season, it would not be a surprise to see the United No.7 moved on in the summer.
