“He might thrive in that…”: Owen Hargreaves pinpoints solution for Rashford to revive his United career

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has detailed how Marcus Rashford can revive his Old Trafford career. Return not out of the cards The prevailing sentiment has always been that Rashford’s time at United is finished, with little to no chance of him ever returning to the club. He joined Barcelona last summer on a season-long loan amidst his strained relationship with Ruben Amorim. He has rediscovered his form in Spain, managing 10 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions. Barcelona retain the option of making his stay a permanent one for £26m, but they’re dragging their feet as they look for ways to drive the price down. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United have no intention of renegotiating with the Blaugrana. United believe that if Barcelona decline to exercise their option to keep Rashford, other suitors will emerge to sign the forward. The Red Devils are also said to be prepared to welcome Rashford back. If he returns, he will be added to the first team. Although the 28-year-old’s preference is to remain at Camp Nou, he has not dismissed the idea of returning to his boyhood club. Amorim’s dismissal has now made that a viable possibility. Speaking on TNT Sports, Hargreaves stressed that he would love to see Rashford back at United. Hargreaves explained that United lack depth on the left wing, which could open the door for Rashford to break into the team and claim the position as his own. Hargreaves makes Rashford point The 2008 Champions League winner remarked, “I think, obviously, Marcus has done brilliantly at Barcelona, but again, I’d love to see him on the left-hand side [at United].” “That’s probably the only spot where I think there’s a bit of space for somebody in that left-wing position. I think Marcus would suit brilliantly.” Hagreaves added, “Sometimes the change of scenery is good for both, but I’d love to see him.” “I just love watching Marcus play, and he’s an academy boy.” “The climate’s different now, so he might thrive in that as well. I hope he stays, but I can understand if he doesn’t as well.” “I hope he stays!” Owen Hargreaves would love Marcus Rashford to nail down a spot on Man United’s left wing next season ⚡️ pic.twitter.com/BejoF3B83a — Football on TNT Sports (@footballontnt) March 26, 2026 Michael Carrick and his players return to action on 13 April when they host arch-rivals Leeds United.
