“He made the club…“: Sky Sports pundits make their feelings on Amorim known following Man United dismissal

Manchester United rocked the headlines this morning as they sacked manager Ruben Amorim. The club announced its decision via an official public statement, citing the team’s sixth place in the Premier League as a reason for the timing of Amorim’s departure. Naturally, this fateful moment in the club’s history has brought with it a whirlwind of questions surrounding the true nature of Man United’s decision, with several reports hitting the papers. Troubled waters David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that the reason behind Amorim’s sacking was a breakdown in relations with the club’s leadership, with both CEO Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox driving the decision. Although any mention of Amorim’s performance as a manager has been excluded from the club’s statement, it hasn’t taken long for some observers to point out the problems with the Portuguese manager’s approach. The pundits rip into Amorim During a panel discussion on Sky Sports, Jamie O’Hara simply stated: “Good riddance, he ain’t good enough to be the Man United manager. Simple as that.” “You stuck with him, because you thought, ‘we’d give him a chance, we need to give managers time,’” he continued, before asserting, “He ain’t good enough. You’ve seen it, the stats are there, they don’t lie. Man United are nowhere near good enough, they’ve not been good enough since he’s come in.” That’s when he laid out his biggest criticism of Amorim of all. “He made the club worse.” 🗣️ “Good riddance” Jamie O’Hara says Ruben Amorim was not good enough for Manchester United and he made the club worse 😳@Fanalysisapp pic.twitter.com/B1MQqRLOyC — Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) January 5, 2026 While his team’s inconsistent performances were certainly a concern, the alleged internal scuffles at Old Trafford were also an issue. Amorim seemed to be becoming increasingly hostile during press conferences, which was blamed on his alleged “growing tension” with Wilcox. With Darren Fletcher set to take charge of the team, hopefully, he will be able to build some consistency, starting with a win against Burley on Wednesday.
