“Got that swagger”: Gushing Rio Ferdinand makes exciting prediction about “unplayable” United star after Liverpool win

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinad has made an exciting prediction about forward Matheus Cunha after his heroics in the win over Liverpool.

Cunha dazzles against Liverpool

While he didn’t score or register an assist vs. Liverpool, Cunha was equally important and played a big role as United secured all three points at Anfield.

United broke the deadlock early on courtesy of Bryan Mbeumo, who got on the end of a pass from Amad and produced a calm and composed finish.

Cody Gakpo restored parity in the 78th minute but United retook their lead soon after, with Harry Maguire towering over the hosts’ defence to head home a superb Bruno Fernandes delivery. The win marked United’s first at Anfield since 2016. It also means that Ruben Amorim has managed back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time since being appointed United head coach.

Cunha’s ball-carrying under pressure, especially in the final minutes of the game, was important. It helped push United high up the pitch and break play while Arne Slot’s men were searching for another equalising goal.

This was not lost on Ferdinand, who praised the Brazilian, insisting that he will become unplayable once he fully gets into his rythm.

Ferdinand makes Cunha prediction

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, Ferdinand explained, “I thought Matheus Cunha was magnificent especially in the second half when we needed someone to give us some time and relief.”

“I just think he’s a wonderful footballer and once he gets into full flow he’s going to be almost unplayable at times. He’s got that swagger about him, I love Cunha.”

Ferdinand also lauded Mbeumo and goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

“I’ve got to talk about Mbeumo’s performance… he’s been getting chances but hasn’t been that clinical. This guy keeps getting into good positions. You’re going to get some luck eventually and he got that today.”

“He just causes problems and unnerves defenders. Defenders never look comfortable against him.”

He said about Lammens, “He pulled us out with one big save with his feet. He was dependable. His hands were really safe. He’s only played two games so I don’t want to get carried away but he was dependable, sure and assertive.”

“Long may that continue because that instils confidence into the back-line.”

United are back in action on Saturday when they take on Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford.
