German side play the long game to perfection, United star’s dream set to come true in 2026 – report

After years of trying to offload Jadon Sancho for a sizeable fee, Manchester United look unlikely to recoup anything. The Englishman was part of the bomb squad in the summer that INEOS desperately tried to shift, and despite Aston Villa’s permanent offer, the 25-year-old refused to sign on the dotted lines and instead agreed a loan move. That in turn impacted the Red Devils’ chances of securing Emiliano Martinez’s signature. And the loan stint has not gone according to plan. The England international has not started a single Premier League game so far, and was even subbed off against Manchester City after coming on as a substitute in the first half. Jadon Sancho: disastrous loan spell Villa are unlikely to sign him permanently, and the 20-time English league champions have no intention of triggering his one-year option. As a free agent, Jadon Sancho will not be short on options, with MLS and Saudi clubs circling. Now, Football Insider have claimed former club Borussia Dortmund are also keen. This will be his third time back at the Signal Iduna Park, with Dortmund only interested if they do not have to pay a fee. “Borussia Dortmund are keen to re-sign winger Jadon Sancho for a third time, sources have told Football Insider. “Sancho is currently on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United but has yet to start a Premier League game for Unai Emery’s side this season. “The 25-year-old sees his contract at Old Trafford expire next summer and Man United are not expected to trigger the one-year extension clause in his current deal. Back to Dortmund “Sources say that Borussia Dortmund are interested in Sancho if he becomes available on a free transfer, but will not pay a fee for him.” The Bundesliga giants had signed him from Manchester City when he was young, and after four years, they sold him to United for £73 million. Safe to say, the move was an unmitigated disaster, and the winger even re-joined Dortmund on loan back in 2024. Back in Germany, Jadon Sancho excelled again, but he has struggled with the pace and physicality in the English top flight. This report just shows how well Dortmund and Jadon Sancho have played the system. It was clear that they were both hoping for this move to materialise. United fans won’t care. They just want to see the back of him permanently. The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
