Fifteen teams across Europe queuing up to take breakout United starlet on loan, one factor will be decisive – report

The Premier League gets underway this weekend and Manchester United still have a lot of business to do.

The Red Devils have dramatically overhauled their frontline with the additions of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, and seem determined to add a new midfielder and goalkeeper to the squad before the transfer window closes.

The club have so far struggled with outgoings, and are yet to secure a significant sale despite having several stars, such as Alejandro Garnacho, hovering near the exit.

Loan moves important

Much is made of United’s need to sell, especially with a blockbuster move for Carlos Baleba in the works, but just as important as making money is finding the right opportunities for youngsters to develop.

The Red Devils have a host of players out on loan already, including summer signing Enzo Kana-Biyik who was sent straight to Lausanne, and goalkeeper Radek Vitek who has already impressed for Bristol City.

With the arrival of Diego Leon from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno, and the 18-year-old’s apparent integration into the first-team setup, it looks like young left-back Harry Amass could be next up for a loan move away from Old Trafford.

Amass in demand

Amass broke through into the first team last season under Ruben Amorim, who handed the 18-year-old four starts towards the end of the campaign. The youngster coped well at left wing-back, and were it not for the strong first impressions made by Leon in training would probably have been set for more top-flight minutes this season too.

A loan has looked likely ever since Amass was left out of the pre-season tour of the US, and The Athletic confirm that he is attracting serious interest from a host of teams ready to do battle to secure his services for the upcoming campaign.

The report notes that he is on the radar of clubs from the Championship and Europe, with “around 15 suitors in touch”.

It’s a fantastic indication of the talent and promise the player possesses, and he should be set to feature heavily wherever he moves. The Athletic note that “game time will be the main factor in selecting his club”.

A loan definitely makes the most sense for both player and club at this point. The likes of Amad Diallo, who had a fruitful spell at Sunderland on his way to becoming one of the standout first-team stars at Old Trafford, show how effective a season spent elsewhere can be.
