Fernandes wins PFA Player of the Month for March

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has won the PFA Premier League Fans’ Player of the Month award for March.
While United only played twice in the competition across the period in question, Fernandes was able to make a big impact, registering two goals and two assists.
Those contributions – highlights of his standout overall performances – will have likely been a key factor among supporters deciding the destination of the Professional Footballers’ Association prize.
Our captain brilliantly curled home his second free-kick of the top-flight season in March’s opening Premier League outing, the 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford.
He then followed that up by assisting Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho in our 3-0 win at Leicester seven days later – a game he completed the scoring in.
Those results ensured United took four points from an unbeaten month in the division, with Bruno recognised for his involvement by being named the league’s own Player of the Month last week.
Fernandes also won our own corresponding prize, as a nod to his impact in recent FA Cup and Europa League fixtures too, before overcoming competition for the PFA trophy from Wolves’ Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Brighton pair Pervis Estupinan and Jan Paul van Hecke, plus Forest duo Anthony Elanga and Nikola Milenkovic.
Bruno has since continued his form with a Man of the Match-winning display in Sunday’s Manchester derby, and will now be hoping to help the Reds record a positive result in Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final first leg away to Lyon.
The Portugal international has been involved in 41 Europa League goals, the most of any player in the competition’s history (24 goals, 17 assists).
He also has the most goals and assists in the knockout stages (16 goals, 11 assists), while his 11 assists are the joint most by a player in the knockouts, along with his former United team-mate Juan Mata.
