“Fergie would’ve booted him:” Teddy Sheringham expresses disgust at United star’s recent behaviour

Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham has unleashed a barrage of criticism at Marcus Rashford amid the winger’s links to a January exit.

Rashford appears to have fallen out of favour with new Man United manager Ruben Amorim, who has excluded the English international from five Premier League matches, the Carabao Cup loss to Tottenham Hotspur and last weekend’s FA Cup victory over Arsenal.

Just this morning, The Peoples Person noted that Rashford appeared to be edging closer to a move to AC Milan.

Should the report prove valid, Rashford’s brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, is expected to meet with United to communicate the player’s decision.

Following the recent transfer buzz, Sheringham has lost care and patience for Rashford, given his recent behaviour.

Asked which club Rashford should sign for to revive his career, Sheringham stated, “I don’t know, and I don’t care, really. I think the way he’s come out and said that ‘he’s ready for a new challenge’ is beyond me.”

Sheringham continued: “You used to get foreigners coming into England saying that sort of thing and people think, ‘yeah, okay’. However, when it’s one of your own from Manchester; a Manchester boy that should understand the privilege it is to play for Manchester United and where you’re at when you’re playing for Manchester United.”

“Every player in the world growing up still wants to play for Manchester United and he’s saying now that he wants a new challenge somewhere. I don’t understand it.”

Sheringham then bluntly concluded: “Fergie would’ve booted him out the door by now if he’d have said that while he was in his tenure. He’s obviously going to go somewhere, but I think his days are numbered at Man United.”

Given the most recent updates, it appears as if Sheringham may no longer need to concern himself with Rashford, given his seemingly impending departure from United.

While updates on a meeting between Rashford’s agent and the club is awaited, it does appear as if AC Milan is confident of signing the 27 year old.

Milan chief Zlatan Ibrahimovic previously expressed his willingness to speak with Rashford about his future, while the club is reportedly making strides in their transfer pursuit.

Even if a deal with Milan falls through, there appears to be other interested parties, including the likes of Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur.

No matter who ends up submitting an offer for Rashford, offloading the United academy graduate may be in the club’s best interest, not only due to his dip in form but the transfer fee that his sale will command.
