Fabrizio Romano: Man United holding private talks over £250k-a-week player who’ll be a free agent in 2026

Fabrizio Romano via YouTube. Manchester United are reportedly planning to opt against activating the 12-month option in Jadon Sancho’s contract, allowing him to leave for nothing next summer. For several months, it had been claimed that the Red Devils would trigger the clause to protect Sancho’s resale value and try to get something for a player they forked out £73 million for. However, they’ve now seemingly conceded behind the scenes that it’s not worth keeping him – and his extortionate £250,000-a-week wages – on the books any longer than necessary. As such, he will depart Old Trafford once and for all in June 2026, as per Fabrizio Romano. How Sancho is faring in the West Midlands (Photo by Dan Mullan/Getty Images)The 25-year-old is currently plying his trade with Aston Villa, but, as has been the case at both Chelsea and United, he is failing to make his mark.He has been utilised sparingly by Unai Emery, even amidst their turbulent start to the season, which has since improved in the weeks leading up to the international break.Sancho has made only four Premier League appearances thus far, and was substituted in and out of the same game last month when Villa claimed a 1-0 win over Manchester City.None of his top-flight outings have come from the off, though he has started twice in Villa’s opening four Europa League games, missing their clash with Feyenoord through illness.Sancho free to test himself in a new environment next season(Photo by Jack Thomas/Getty Images)There was no buy option or obligation included in the forward’s terms when he departed for Villa Park on deadline day in September, and, with his contract now in the final seven months, he will be free to open talks with foreign clubs from January. Then, when the summer rolls around, he will pull the curtain on his truly lacklustre United tenure, which has seen him record 12 goals and six assists in 83 appearances.
