Alejandro Garnacho on cusp of sealing desired Chelsea move United have to stand firm with Garnacho valuation

Alejandro Garnacho’s move to Chelsea looks to be imminent following major developments on Wednesday.

After holding a further round of talks with Manchester United, Chelsea have outlined their proposal for the Argentine international, making it clear they’d be willing to stump up £35-40 million.

They are now waiting on a response from United, though Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the deal ‘will happen’, adding it’s ‘just a matter of time’.

Garnacho has been waiting to make the switch to Stamford Bridge since the start of the summer. What’s more, he was so adamant about joining the Blues that he even rebuffed an approach from European giants Bayern Munich.

If the two Premier League clubs happen to fail to reach an agreement, it’s expected that the forward will spend the first half of the campaign in the reserves at Carrington, waiting for the January window to open.

It’s certainly a risky game he’s playing, however. Garnacho has already been left out of Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers, so spending five months out of action will slash his chances of making his nation’s World Cup squad next summer.

United have to stand firm with Garnacho valuation

Even though Chelsea have increased what they were initially planning to offer for the Carrington graduate, you could argue that it’s still nowhere near enough, especially when considering what other wingers around Garnacho’s age bracket have left for this window.

Omari Hutchinson £37.5M
Dan Ndoye £40M
Dango Ouattara £42.5M
Jacob Ramsey £43M
Noni Madueke £50M
Jamie Gittens £51M
Anthony Elanga £55M
João Pedro £60M

Yeah. We’re within our right to demand £50M for Garnacho.

At just 21 years old, Garnacho has accumulated 144 senior appearances for the 20-time champions, scoring 26 goals and assisting a further 22. He has won both the League Cup and FA Cup, playing a direct role in the latter by scoring in the final, as well as the Copa America with reigning world champions Argentina, for whom he’s earned eight caps.

He is also contracted to the club until 2028, meaning United are technically under no pressure to facilitate his sale, but his ongoing exile from the first team will likely only end with him departing.
