Fabrizio Romano explains latest developments in United’s Bryan Mbeumo transfer saga

Manchester United are reportedly still in active talks to find a solution on Bryan Mbeumo’s transfer fee from Brentford despite having a second bid rejected.

The Red Devils have spent most of June chasing the exciting attacker and it had been reported that United had struck a £65 million deal for him.

It had also been stated that a deal was so far advanced that there were plans for Mbeumo to have his medical at the club next week.

Ultra-reliable journalist, David Ornstein, dampened the mood yesterday amongst fans as he reported that United had a second bid knocked back by Brentford for Mbeumo.

Fabrizio Romano has responded though with more positive news for Red Devils while discussing the transfer on his YouTube channel.

He claimed that “the understanding is Brentford constantly mention in the talks they are having with Manchester United the price tag of other players in the market when they mention Mbeumo.”

This ties in with previous reports that the Londoners are keen to at least achieve the £62.5 million release clause United paid Wolverhampton Wanderers for Matheus Cunha earlier in the window.

Nonetheless, Romano was quick to point out that conversations on a deal are still very much ongoing and that “they are trying to find a solution.”

Commenting on Ruben Amorim’s side’s feeling on the transfer he asserted, “Manchester United remain calm. Manchester United remain confident. Man United remain optimistic because as I told you a few days ago, he is giving total priority to Manchester United.”

Therefore, the club “remain in active talks with Brentford to reach an agreement for the transfer fee.”

He did state that there has so far been no agreement but that the deal is very much “alive” and that the story is very “active” and there could be news in the next few days.

Mbeumo would be a very exciting addition to United’s attack as he fired in 20 Premier League goals last season for the Bees.
