FA Youth Cup preview: Oxford v United

Monday 16 February 2026 13:00Manchester United are back on the FA Youth Cup trail on Wednesday evening, taking on Oxford United in the fifth round of the prestigious competition. Please note the earlier kick-off time of 18:00 GMT, as the MUTV cameras will capture the action live for subscribers in the UK and Ireland, and viewers in the same regions can also watch it on our official YouTube channel. Darren Fletcher is one of only three men to score a first-team goal at the Kassam Stadium for United, after netting in a pre-season friendly back in 2006.The Scot returns as coach of our Under-18s, hoping to follow up victories over Peterborough United and Derby County, in order to set up a home quarter-final tie against either Sunderland or Brighton & Hove Albion. A superb 3-1 away win at Manchester City on Saturday provided the perfect boost heading into the midweek clash, with Gabriel, Chido Obi and Jim Thwaites on the scoresheet in the derby. Schoolboy striker Gabriel is now available after having his red card in the Under-18 Premier League Cup win at West Brom overturned, on appeal. Thwaites, whose strike was a spectacular free-kick, is also available again after missing the Derby clash. The midfielder captained the team against Peterborough. There is plenty of competition for places as United strive to ultimately lift the trophy for a record 12th time, following on from our most recent success in 2022.  Oxford have overcome Wigan Athletic and Colchester United to reach this stage, and they are hoping for a bumper attendance for the fixture.Recommended:U18s 90 in 20: City v United VideoU18s 90 in 20: City v United90 in 20 | Watch extended highlights from our young Reds’ Manchester derby in the U18 Premier League…U18s highlights: City v United VideoU18s highlights: City v UnitedHighlights | Watch the best bits from an Under-18s Manchester derby between City and United…Monday 16 February 2026 13:00Back to Top
