Exciting World Cup star set for United medical “this week” with official announcement expected “in the coming days” – report

Manchester United’s summer transfer window has been extremely disappointing so far, with INEOS mishandling three separate pursuits. United were priced out of moves for Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali, before they allowed Tottenham Hotspur to hijack a move for Mateus Fernandes. INEOS are currently in panic mode, and are even prepared to break the bank for Alex Scott even though Bournemouth are refusing to sell. What made matters worse was the recent rumour that a deal for Ederson had broken down. The Brazilian had been the first signing for the club with the departing Casemiro recommending the Atalanta ace to the Red Devils. Ederson medical set for this week While the Brazil international is not seen as a game-changing signing at defensive midfield, he is more than capable of producing the goods given his skillset. The 27-year-old was a late call-up to the national team for the World Cup and made two cameo appearances, including in the defeat to Norway. While that must have hurt for the midfielder, United will be glad as now the former Salernitana ace can finally travel to Manchester for his medical. Interestingly, he has already had the first part of his medical with the Brazil national team in the United States, but the 20-time English league champions are also eager to put him through his paces under their own close supervision. United confident of wrapping up the deal in the coming days TEAMtalk have revealed that Ederson will travel to England for his medical this week, which means that, should he pass the test, an announcement could come as early as this weekend. “Ederson is now expected to travel to England this week to undergo his medical after Brazil’s World Cup campaign came to an end following Sunday’s last-16 defeat to Norway. “Ederson has always been viewed as the cornerstone of that rebuild, with the Brazilian’s athleticism, ball-carrying ability and versatility making him one of United’s priority targets. Now for INEOS to step on the gas and sign more midfielders “Club officials were delighted to get that one wrapped up early. TEAMtalk understands United remain fully confident that the former Salernitana midfielder will complete his medical in the coming days before officially becoming the first midfield signing of the summer.” Once the Ederson signing is done and dusted, INEOS must hurry up with the remaining transfers, with Aurelien Tchouameni considered the dream replacement for Casemiro.
