Euro side desperate to sign United star in £30.5m deal, their players are already in contact with him – report

Galatasaray have reportedly made the signing of Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte a priority, with a new report outlining their proposal to land him. United exit on the cards Ugarte is facing an extremely uncertain future at Old Trafford amidst his struggle to make an impact since joining the club from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024. United paid an initial fee of £42 million to secure Ugarte’s services but he has struggled to justify that price tag. He has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth under all three managers that he has played under, with current caretaker boss Michael Carrick using him even more sparingly. Ugarte’s limitations on the ball have been a particular source of frustration for supporters. Fabrizio Romano revealed that Ugarte is attracting interest from Serie A. Galatasaray have also been previously mentioned as admirers of his. More recently, a report covered by The Peoples Person claimed that Juventus are prepared to sign him on an initial loan deal with the option to make his signing permanent at the end of the 2026/27 campaign. Turkish Football have now issued an update, indicating that Galatasaray have designated Ugarte a priority target. Ugarte latest According to the news outlet, Galatasaray have “accelerated their pursuit” of Ugarte as they look to take full advantage of his troubling situation at Old Trafford. Ugarte’s bid to win the race for Ugarte is boosted by their strong ties with Uruguayan footballers. Fernando Muslera and Lucas Torreira are said to be in”frequent contact” with Ugarte to try and convince him to seal a switch to the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex. A Torreira-Ugarte midfield pivot is understood to be a “dream scenario” for manager Okan Buruk. Galatasaray are willing to offer an initial “high-value loan deal” accompanied by a mandatory purchase option of between €30m–€35m. It remains to be seen whether Galatasaray formalise their proposal and how United feel about it. The buy option being permanent could be crucial in striking an agreement between the two sides.
