Euro giants in talks with United star over high-profile summer move, 27-yo agreed to join them in 2022 – report

Paris Saint-Germain reportedly remain interested in long-term target Marcus Rashford ahead of the summer transfer window.

PSG have been on the heels of Rashford ever since he established himself as a key part of United’s attack. President of the Ligue 1 giants Nasser Al-Khelaifi has publicly admitted to having an interest in the Englishman.

According to L’Équipe (via GFFN), PSG came very close to luring the left-winger away from United in the summer of 2022.

As part of their plans to replace Neymar with Rashford, the club’s hierarchy held at least three meetings with his brother.

It is claimed Rashford discussed the move with the then sporting director Leonardo and had even given the green light for a transfer.

However, the move failed to materialise as Leonardo parted ways with Les Parisiens.

The French outlet claims contact between the 27-year-old’s entourage and Luis Campos, who is the football advisor at the club, has been renewed, as PSG will be in the market for a forward this summer.

However, at this moment, Aston Villa have an advantage over other suitors.

Villa signed Rashford in January in a loan deal with an option to buy the United academy product for £40 million.

Villa’s stance over a permanent transfer remains unknown at the moment but the England international has enjoyed a decent form under Unai Emery, having been directly involved in seven goals in 12 appearances.

It is further revealed that French outfit Olympique de Marseille showed interest in Rashford during the winter window but he wanted to remain in England. PSG will have to look elsewhere if the United loanee once again decides to continue plying his trade in the Premier League.

The French giants may get to watch Rashford in action closely as Villa are scheduled to face them in the Champions League quarter-finals.
