Erik ten Hag provides positive injury update on trio ahead of Coventry FA Cup semi-final

Erik ten Hag has given some encouraging updates on a trio of Man United players, ahead of the FA Cup semi-final.

Manchester United have one final chance at silverware this season; the FA Cup.

A semi-final against Coventry awaits this Sunday, with Erik ten Hag looking to earn his side a place in the final – and potentially a rematch against Manchester City…

First, though, United must not underestimate their opponents this weekend. Coventry have earned their place in this semi-final and they’ll no doubt be a tough nut to crack.

Injuries have been a problem for United all season long. That’s not going to change this term, with the Red Devils still missing many key players.

However, there has been some good news on that front. Ten Hag has provided a positive injury update on a trio of players ahead of the match, during his usual pre-game press conference.

All of Antony, Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire are expected to be fit for the encounter, with the latter’s inclusion in the squad set to be the most important due to the defensive treatment table crisis on Ten Hag’s hands.

Check out what the gaffer had to say in full here:

“Yeah, Antony and Scott I expect them to be back,” Ten Hag told the media, including ManUtd.com. “Scott didn’t train all week, partial on Wednesday, today I expect him full. Antony did train the whole week.”

“As I’ve already said, Harry, all game against Bournemouth, he struggled. He had an issue. He had a small injury and didn’t train this week, so far. But, now, he’s back on the pitch. So we expect him, today, back in the team training. He will be available, I think and I hope, for Sunday.”

There were doubts about Antony’s fitness after his exclusion from the squad against Bournemouth last weekend, though those fears were eased somewhat quickly, with the Brazilian pictured back in training early on this week.

McTominay has actually come back a little sooner than expected. Again, this adds some depth in a key area of the field. The Scotland international has scored some massive goals this term, so we could well see him make an impact off the bench again here.

Maguire being fit and available adds some experience to the back line. It’s good for Willy Kambwala to have that wise head sitting in alongside him here. There can be no doubt about that.

Welcome back, lads.
