Dusan Vlahovic: Man United target makes Barcelona call after Besiktas offer

Dusan Vlahovic, who has been mentioned as being on Manchester United’s radar, has reportedly made a big transfer call after being offered a contract by Besiktas.

Vlahovic interest

A report covered by The Peoples Person claimed that United could consider a swoop for Vlahovic if Joshua Zirkzee leaves this summer.

Zirkzee’s future at United is far from certain following his struggle for regular playing time last season. He made 24 Premier League appearances but only five came as starts. When fit, Benjamin Sesko was ahead of him in the pecking order. At times, even Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha were selected ahead of him.

There is no questioning the Dutchman’s value, but with his career entering its latter stages, the desire to be a regular starter is likely pulling him towards an exit. Italy could be his next stop, with Juventus reportedly keeping tabs on his situation.

Vlahovic is currently available as a free agent after he and Juventus failed to agree terms of a new contract.

The Serbia international scored 68 goals and registered 16 assists in 168 appearances for the Old Lady. In addition to United, Barcelona are also said to be keen on adding him to their ranks.

Now, an update on Vlahovic has been provided by SPORT.

Vlahovic update

According to the Spanish news outlet, Vlahovic is pushing for clarity on his future before the first week of August is out.

He has received a second, improved offer from Besiktas, who are pulling out all the stops to add him to their ranks. The Turkish Super Lig outfit have presented the United target with a two-year deal, including a signing bonus.

However, SPORT say, “Vlahovic has remained firm in his desire to join Barça and would be willing to lower his demands if the Catalan club makes a move, but for now, the talks have only progressed to an exchange of information.”

“The Serbian striker made it clear to those close to him that he was only willing to lower his demands if a top club like Barcelona or Juventus came calling, but even then, an agreement couldn’t be reached.”

It’s understood that Juventus’ signing of Randal Kolo Muani has effectively closed the door to any possibility of Vlahovic returning to Juventus.

Vlahovic is demanding an annual salary of €8m, although it is not yet known whether Beşiktaş’s proposal has reached that threshold. Whether United would give him that, however, is quite another matter.

United haven’t been ruled out just yet, though Barcelona are playing a waiting game, keeping an eye on Julian Alvarez’s situation and whether Ferran Torres will commit his future to the club.
