‘Difference-making’ Man Utd star tipped for return to homeland as league leaders deem him a ‘dream’ target

PSV Eindhoven have set their sights on a move for Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee this summer, deeming him their ‘dream’ target. That’s according to Netherlands-based outlet VI, which adds that United’s No.11 has been categorised as a ‘perfect match’ for head coach Peter Bosz.Schiedam-born Zirkzee plied his trade in his homeland until he was scouted by Bayern Munich when he was 16 years old, with the Bundesliga giants recruiting him from Feyenoord’s youth ranks to add him to their academy instead.Since then, he has gained experience in Germany, Italy, Belgium and, now, England.Joshua Zirkzee: How’s he fared as a Red?(Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images)He joined United from Bologna in a £36.5 million deal in the summer of 2024, but has struggled to really crack on and oversee a consistent run of form. That being said, it’s incredibly tricky to do so when you’re not being granted chances in the first place, which has been the case throughout the majority of the current campaign.By early November, Zirkzee – hailed as a ‘difference-maker’ by Owen Hargreaves – had not started a single Premier League game and had been an unused substitute for seven matches under Ruben Amorim.Injuries and absences in attack then paved the way for the 24-year-old to feature more prominently around the festive period, though he has still only made four starts in total across the 24 matches United have played.
