Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim could resort to a familiar solution to solve his attacking dilemma.
This summer, the Red Devils focused first and foremost on revamping their attack. But while Bryan Mbeumo has already scored twice and Matheus Cunha has displayed flashes of brilliance, question marks remain over Benjamin Sesko’s performances, as the Slovenian striker has been struggling to find the back of the net.
Although the 22-year-old contributed to the play that led to Robert Sanchez’s dismissal in Saturday’s win over Chelsea, the club’s supporters are expecting much more from their £74 million signing, who has yet to prove he’s an upgrade on Rasmus Hojlund.

With the club’s two centre-forwards, Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee, still waiting to break their duck, Amorim finds himself in a similar situation to last season, when his strikers were unable to offer the expected goal contribution.
At the time, the Portuguese manager resorted to Chido Obi, who had already impressed with Man Utd’s U18 squad. While the young Dane never managed to score for the seniors, his introduction often added a burst of energy, and he was regarded by most fans as an improvement on his compatriot, Hojlund.

This season, Obi is once again delivering the goods with the youth ranks, this time with the U21 side. He has been decisive for the young Red Devils in the Premier League 2, netting three goals in his first four appearances. He also sparked the come-from-behind victory over Liverpool last weekend.
As the Manchester Evening News notes, the 17-year-old can once again emerge as a solution for the first team, at least if Sesko fails to end his goal drought soon.
The United supporters would certainly be delighted to see one of their most promising academy products playing for the seniors week in week out, but Amorim certainly won’t give up on one of the club’s big summer signings this rapidly, so we can expect more opportunities to come in Sesko’s way.
