Dalot struggled, but this invisible United star should carry the blame for the club’s humiliating FA Cup exit vs. Brighton

Manchester United have been dumped out of the FA Cup, having suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion. Here are our player ratings from the game. (A score of 6 is around average) Senne Lammens 4 – No chance for both goals. Extremely lucky to get away with a huge mistake in the first half. Diogo Dalot 3 – Big miss that could have handed United an early lead. Struggled defensively and also came up short in promising attacking positions. Leny Yoro 4 – Slack for both goals as part of a vulnerable defensive unit. Lisandro Martinez 4 – Same as Yoro. Didn’t cover himself in glory for the first goal especially. Ucharacteristically passive in his defensive duties. Patrick Dorgu 5 – Just OK. Won his duels and looked to get involved going forward, although not much came off. Manuel Ugarte 3 – His limitations in possession were glaring. His wasteful passing was matched only by his failure to deliver the defensive stability expected of him. Kobbie Mainoo 7 – One of the very few United players who can hold their head high in what was simply an embarrassing defeat. Responsible for most of the little control that United managed in the middle of the park and looked to advance the ball at every opportunity. Dropped deep to collect the ball from the defence. Bruno Fernandes 6 – His best moment was the free-kick attempt that almost crept in, before he registered an assist for Benjamin Sesko from the corner. Mason Mount 2 – A ghost on the wing. Offered next to nothing before his unsurprising substitution. Matheus Cunha 3 – Another tough outing. Nothing seems to be working for him at the moment. Constantly overran the ball, snatched at chances, and appeared visibly adrift. Benjamin Sesko 7.5 – Another goal for the Slovenian. Towered the highest to head in Fernandes’ delivery and pull one back for the hosts. Substitutes Shea Lacey 6 – Made a difference when he came on, taking players on, putting crosses into the box and waking up the Old Trafford crowd. Got sent off late on for two bookable offences. Joshua Zirkzee 5 – Just OK. Harry Maguire 5 – Same as Zirkzee. Casemiro 4 – First contribution was giving the ball away.
