BACK Man Utd are seriously contemplating making a move for Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller, according to reports. The German international has been on the club’s radar for a while, but TEAMtalk claim he is emerging as a “genuine” option to strengthen the midfield ahead of the summer transfer window. Stiller’s availability for a relatively low fee is one of the reasons why he is seen as a good target. Despite reports that the Red Devils are keen on Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali, it has been subsequently claimed that his £100m+ asking price is putting them off. In contrast, Stiller is on the market for around half that amount, with TEAMtalk suggesting that Stuttgart would be “open” to selling for approximately £50m. Vivell is pushing hard for the club to sign Stiller Head of Recruitment Christopher Vivell is known to be a big fan of the 25-year-old. He has been sending scouts to keep a close eye on him over the last few months. The fact that United need at least two midfielders (if Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro both leave), means the club need to be frugal in how they spend their money. Elliot Anderson is believed to be the club’s top target, and if they were to spend a sizeable sum on another midfielder, it is unlikely they would have enough to sign the England international as well. Man Utd could have competition for the German TEAMtalk report that Liverpool and Newcastle are also keeping tabs on Stiller, with the latter likely seeing him as a potential replacement for Tonali, if the Italian departs St James’ Park this summer. United may, however, feel that they can offer more. Out of the three teams, they are the only ones who can almost guarantee him Champions League football next season. Liverpool have a tough run-in, and they are only sitting one point above Chelsea in fifth. Newcastle, meanwhile, are 12th in the table. Want more news on Man Utd?
