Champions League winner on United Women team’s radar, they face a major fight with their league rivals – Sky

Manchester United Women are still keen on signing Chloe Kelly this summer.

The Red Devils have come off the back of a successful season, where they finished third and qualified for the Champions League.

Marc Skinner’s young side also reached the final of the FA Cup but they were comprehensively beaten 0-3 by Chelsea.

United will be keen to strengthen their squad this summer as they aspire to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League for the first time in their history.

The club were keen on bringing in Chloe Kelly in January but she finally ended up at Arsenal, where she won the Champions League last month against FC Barcelona.

It is understood that Kelly was very much open to a switch to United before she signed for Arsenal and the Red Devils are still in the race for her.

Sky Sports news report that Arsenal are the current favourites to get a deal done though for the Manchester City player.

It is reported that, “Arsenal remain in talks over a permanent deal over Chloe Kelly. The Gunners are the only club the England forward is talking to and there’s a desire on both sides to get a deal done.”

Nonetheless, there is a gap at the moment between the two sides financially, which might allow some other teams into the picture.

If a deal can’t be agreed, “Kelly has long standing interest from Manchester United, who tried to sign her in January.”

It is also stated that, “Chelsea are also keeping up to speed on the situation, as are clubs in Europe.”

Kelly played 14 games in the league last season, scoring two goals and providing three assists.

She also managed three assists in eight Champions League games, starting the final in Lisbon.

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
