Casemiro’s sensational long-range strike against Leicester City has been voted as our men’s Goal of the Month for October.
The Brazilian maestro scored a marvellous opener as part of a stylish display in the Reds’ 5-2 victory in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
Alejandro Garnacho’s pass inside was dummied by captain Bruno Fernandes and, encouraged to shoot by the fans, Casemiro duly obliged with a 25-yard rocket that flew in off the underside of the crossbar.
Our no.18 would go on to score a second goal, and have further chances to notch a hat-trick, as United ran out convincing winners in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first game in the dugout as interim head coach.
But it was the midfielder’s unstoppable 15th-minute strike which has been appreciated by our fans as United’s best during the third month of the 2024/25 campaign.
It’s a finish that just gets better and better, the more you watch it.
The 32-year-old now has three goals in his last two appearances, after also netting in our Premier League match at West Ham United.
Also in contention for the prize were Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire’s Europa League efforts against FC Porto, Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund’s fantastic finishes against Brentford, Christian Eriksen’s thumping drive at Fenerbahce and Fernandes’s second goal against Leicester.
Casemiro was also shortlisted for our Player of the Month prize for his combative displays during October, but fans chose Alejandro Garnacho as our winner.
