Carrick has had his first conflict with INEOS over superstar’s future, new head coach has put his foot down – report

The contracts of several Manchester United superstars are up in the summer, and INEOS are mulling over what to do. Casemiro, who enjoyed quite the resurgence under Ruben Amorim, will become a free agent in the summer unless the co-owners trigger the one-year option in his deal. It can be activated should the former Real Madrid superstar play a certain number of games, should the club not want to lose him amid interest from the MLS. The club hierarchy is reluctant to pay the Brazilian his current wages, and as a result, he is unlikely to start as much under the new caretaker boss. Harry Maguire future up in the air Another big-name star in the same boat is Harry Maguire. As previously relayed by The Peoples Person, plenty of teams are eyeing the soon-to-be free agent. While INEOS are mulling over letting him leave, Michael Carrick, who was the assistant manager when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought the Englishman to Old Trafford, has put his foot down. As per The Sun, he has categorically informed INEOS not to sell the England international, and as a result, the 20-time English league champions have rejected multiple approaches in January. “Manchester United have rejected several approaches for Harry Maguire this month. Harry Maguire future resolved? “Interim head coach Michael Carrick has slammed the door shut on a potential exit for Maguire, insisting the defender remains at Old Trafford despite inquiries from Milan and multiple Premier League clubs. “SunSport can exclusively reveal that United will reject all approaches for Maguire, 32, this month.” The centre-back has missed 10 of United’s 21 Premier League fixtures, which shows that irrespective of whether he stays or goes, the club need a younger, more reliable option. Harry Maguire did return from injury in the FA Cup tie against Brighton last weekend, and it will be intriguing to see if Michael Carrick picks him from the start for the Manchester derby.
