“By this weekend”: Chelsea believe they’re about to sign Garnacho, think they’ve found the magic number – report

Manchester United appear to be one step closer to parting ways with Alejandro Garnacho this summer.

In what has been a busy transfer window, Man United have been bolstering their attacking lineup with an array of fresh signings, including Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko.

Of course, with so much incoming talent, it makes sense for some current players to make room for the new signings, particularly if they are not satisfied at the club.

One player who seems all but set to depart is Alejandro Garnacho.

The rift deepens

United manager Ruben Amorim has been frank on his fallout with Garnacho, explaining that he is among a group of players who have shown that they no longer want to be at the club.

As such, the Portuguese manager has been open about his willingness to part ways with the youngster, clearly wanting to build a squad of players who want to fight for the badge.

Since then, transfer talks for the Argentine have intensified.

Suitors emerge

A few days ago, The Peoples Person relayed that Chelsea have opened talks with United for Garnacho following weeks of speculation.

It was reported just a day later that Garnacho had reached a total agreement with Chelsea for his transfer.

Just one issue needed to be solved in order to secure his move.

One area of disagreement

With the player ready to move, there was just one area in which the clubs were struggling to reach an agreement – his price tag.

United initially relayed an asking price of £70 million for Garnacho, according to David Ornstein.

However, Chelsea are believed to value him at £30 million, which means that there is a large valuation gap between the clubs.

Finally, it seems that there has been a breakthrough in this regard.

The transfer breakthrough

TEAMTalk reported that both United and Chelsea appear willing to budge on their initial valuations.

“Chelsea are making progress in their efforts to sign Alejandro Garnacho and believe Manchester United will eventually agree to a reduced fee from the initial £50m valuation,” the report read.

“The Blues are willing to pay around £35m, which they see as a fair price given the player’s current situation at Old Trafford.”

With both clubs gravitating closer towards a middle ground, it appears that United are closer than ever to bidding farewell to Garnacho as they advance their summer transfer agenda.
