Representatives from both Manchester United and Newcastle United are in Germany today to try and finalise a deal for Benjamin Sesko.
This comes after RB Leipzig, according to David Ornstein, accepted the Magpies’ improved bid for the player, which is thought to be in the region of £78.3 million.
On the other hand, United’s total package offered to the Bundesliga outfit is £73.8m, making it a considerably less lucrative deal for Leipzig to pursue. However, when it became public knowledge that Sesko was favouring a move to Old Trafford over St. James’ Park, Leipzig were cornered into prioritising the Red Devils’ proposal.

Assuming the two clubs can hash out an agreement on the financial terms of the prospective transfer, Sesko will become a United player in the coming days, as confirmed by German football expert Christian Falk via CaughtOffside.
Falk adds that the ‘technical’ 22-year-old has been deemed ‘better than Erling Haaland’ by his teammates in recent years.
Given that INEOS are targeting him as a direct replacement for the lacklustre Rasmus Hojlund, they’ll have likely done their research and learned that Sesko’s minutes-per-goal statistics trump those of the side’s current No.9.

Sesko’s arrival will pave the way for one Red to be sold
The Slovenian international is poised to join Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo through the doors at Carrington as Ruben Amorim’s summer signings thus far. They’d form a completely new-look frontline from next season, which is essential following a campaign in which United netted only 44 Premier League goals in 38 matches.
In turn, it’s thought Hojlund will be offloaded if and when Sesko officially puts pen to paper on his contract in M16 – despite his public pleas to stay put and fight for a spot under Amorim.
Of those 44 league goals scored last term, Hojlund was responsible for just four of them.
