United to meet Turkish club in June over teenage starlet Mourinho compares to Varane – report

Manchester United are very interested in Fenerbahce defender Yusuf Akçiçek and are expected to make an offer of around £10-15 million for the young centre-back in June.

The Red Devils have invested heavily in their defence over the past year and this was showcased last night as four of the starting five defenders against Real Sociedad have all been at the club for less than one year.

Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system requires more centre-backs and he has not been shy about including youngsters in his starting line-up with 19-year-old Leny Yoro featuring regularly under his management.

What’s more, 18-year-old Ayden Heaven has recently been given chances to shine and was fantastic in his first ever start for the club last night in the Europa League.

This coming summer will likely see United say goodbye to Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans, so it is probable that the Red Devils may look to recruit another central defender.

Turkish outlet Sports Digitale have claimed that “Manchester United officially wants Yusuf Akçiçek. In fact, along with Manchester United, one of the five big teams in England has also stepped in for Yusuf Akçiçek.”

The Peoples Person has already relayed that United are scouting the player and have expressed their interest in the young Turk.

According to the outlet, there are two teams who are seriously interested in the youngster at the moment, United and a French club who is not Paris Saint-Germain.

Journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu claimed that United were scouting the player last night, alongside the unnamed French club, in Fenerbahce’s bitterly disappointing penalty shootout defeat to Glasgow Rangers.

The youngster put in an outstanding performance, making nine clearances, winning eight ground duels while completing 87% of his passes.

The Sports Digitale reporter also claimed, “Manchester United wants him very much… I expect an official offer of around £10-15 million to come out in the summer. United will meet with Fenerbahçe in June.”

The 19-year-old has already played 16 matches this season for the senior team, scoring twice.

Jose Mourinho is clearly a big fan of the player and has claimed that he can’t help but draw comparisons between the Istanbul native and French legend and former United star Raphael Varane.

He has also been described as being a “complete, elegant, and dominant centre-back” who is a “composed and cultured passer with a proclivity for breaking the lines with intricate vertical balls.”

Friday 14 March 2025 17:00

Manchester United’s Premier League home game against Wolves has been given a new date following our progression in the Europa League.

The Reds were due to face Vitor Pereira’s side on Saturday 19 April but the game will now take place a day later, on Sunday 20 April.

Kick-off has also been altered for the meeting in M16, to the 14:00 BST slot.

Ruben Amorim’s side advanced to the last eight of the Europa League on Thursday and face Lyon in the quarter-finals.

The away leg is scheduled to take place in France on Thursday 10 April, at 20:00 BST.

The return game will be played exactly a week later at Old Trafford, on Thursday 17 April, meaning the Wolves fixture had to be moved back.

United take on Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Newcastle United in the Premier League next month before Wolves’ visit, while the trip to Bournemouth is touted for the final Sunday of the month – unless the Cherries make it past City and into the Emirates FA Cup semi-finals.

Amorim’s men are back in action this Sunday, as we face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. Click here for further details.

Man Utd news: Troy Deeney names ‘excellent’ duo who should have been called up to England ahead of Marcus Rashford

Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney believes two players should have gotten the England nod over Marcus Rashford.

Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad announcement included some surprises, both in who he decided to include and those he opted to leave out.

Rashford’s first involvement since March 2024 is a surprise especially given he has only rediscovered his spark since moving to Aston Villa on loan in January, playing just nine games.

However, Tuchel believes those nine games are enough and if he is opting to select players based on form, then he certainly falls into that category.

Granted, there is still a power vacuum on the left-hand side of their attack with the likes of Anthony Gordon and Phil Foden both playing there in the past year, while Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens sits lying in waiting after his impressive season in Germany.

Two players who Deeney believes should have been included are Rashford’s teammate Jacob Ramsey and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, two players who have been impressive all season long and that’s why Deeney has spoken out on their omission.

“Obviously he’s trying to get back up to speed and it’s hard mid-season when you’re trying to catch up and everyone is in full flow,” Deeney told talkSPORT on Rashford’s loan spell. “There’s not a deep pool of number nines. Potentially that’s why Marcus has gone in there to be the second or third no.9.

“I’m not (having that), to be honest with you. I want to make this very clear; this is not about Marcus Rashford. It’s not about him. It’s about the other guys who have been working week in, week out and putting in stellar performances and then being overlooked because of the name of Marcus Rashford.

“Players like Morgan Gibbs-White or even Jacob Ramsey at Aston Villa, he’s been excellent.”

Tuchel’s reasoning behind Rashford selection

Having been selected, Rashford took to social media to show his gratitude to Tuchel as he wrote: “Never stop believing *England flag emoji* Can’t wait to get started *praying emoji*.”

Tuchel’s reasoning behind selecting him points towards the idea of rewarding and selecting on current form and experience more than anything else. “With Marcus, he is a familiar face but a different situation,” the England boss said.

“I felt that he had a huge impact at Aston Villa, he made a huge impact from the bench mostly. The impact was impressive. The physical impact was impressive and most importantly, his workrate, his defensive ability and tracking back was impressive.

“I had the strong feeling that we should nominate him, bring him in and to push him to stay on that level to not fall back on old routines. This camp is to push him to stay on this level.”

Friday 14 March 2025 16:00

Manchester United are back in Premier League action on Sunday, as we travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City.

Ruben Amorim’s side come into the encounter with the Foxes off the back of a convincing 4-1 win over Real Sociedad on Thursday, that helped secured our passage to the last eight of the Europa League via a 5-2 aggregate scoreline.

But attention now swiftly turns back to our league campaign, as a reunion with Ruud van Nistelrooy awaits this weekend.

United haven’t had much time to prepare for the trip to the East Midlands but earning another three points is top of the agenda.

Scroll down for all the details you need ahead of the encounter…

HOW TO WATCH AND FOLLOWSunday’s game will kick-off at 19:00 GMT and it is set to be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.

MUTV will provide extensive build-up before the game with Zarah Connolly joined by Danny Simpson. Our pre-match show begins at 17:55 GMT.

Live radio commentary will also be available on ManUtd.com and in the United App, provided to you by the dynamic duo of Liam Bradford and Ben Thornley.

LATEST TEAM NEWSAs confirmed by Amorim on Friday, Mason Mount could be fit enough to make the bench against the relegation-threatened Foxes.

Manuel Ugarte was an unused substitute and could return, as well as defender Harry Maguire, with the boss insisting ‘we will see’ if the former Leicester defender is fit enough.

Kobbie Mainoo is still a few weeks away from fitness, while Leny Yoro will be unavailable until April. He has joined an extensive injury list which includes the likes of Amad, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw.

Patrick Dorgu will have to miss out too, as he completes the final game of his Premier League suspension.

OUR PREVIOUS MEETINGS WITH LEICESTERThe Reds and Leicester have gone head-to-head on 140 occasions, with United emerging victorious 73 times – and our recent form against the Foxes makes for healthy viewing, as we have won the past five meetings in all competitions.

That included February’s Emirates FA Cup fourth-round success at Old Trafford as Harry Maguire powered home a vital last-minute winner.

This will be the fourth time we’ll have faced Leicester this season as we also beat them 5-2 in the Carabao Cup and 3-0 in the league when Van Nistelrooy was in the Reds dugout.

Let’s hope we can spoil Ruud’s party yet again on Sunday, with his side still battling to remain in England’s top-flight this term.

Why Bruno loves the Europa League

0

Friday 14 March 2025 15:00

Bruno Fernandes set a new Europa League record, after scoring a hat-trick against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.

The skipper slotted home a penalty in each half – one to Alex Remiro’s right and one to his left – as United recovered from going a goal down through Mikel Oyarzabal’s own spot-kick.

Bruno then sealed victory in the tie by hitting the bottom corner late on, after Alejandro Garnacho had shown awareness and patience to find him clean through on goal.

Our no.8’s second treble in a red shirt – his first came against Leeds in August 2021 – took him to 41 combined goals and assists in the Europa League and we’ve been informed by Opta this is a new competition record, dating back to when the tournament was rebranded in 2009.

Bruno has played 53 games in the competition – 19 for Sporting and 34 since joining United in the winter of 2020.

His 24 goals and 17 assists (13 and 11 respectively for the Reds) mean he has now passed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when it comes to goal involvements.

Aubameyang represented Lille, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Barcelona and Marseille in the Europa League and found the net 34 times, meaning he does still stand alone when it comes to goalscoring.

Two former Reds are next up in the scoring charts but Bruno could get closer to, or even pass Radamel Falcao (30) and Romelu Lukaku (27) should we go the distance this term.

Aritz Aduriz, who played for Athletic Club and Valencia, has 26 goals in the Europa League while Alexandre Lacazette – of our next opponents, Lyon – is one goal ahead of Fernandes, with 25.

No-one can now match Bruno’s total goal involvements though and only Dries Mertens is above him when you look at assists.

Fernandes has set up Amad and Rasmus Hojlund for goals in 2024/25 and his next assist will take him level with the Galatasaray forward, currently on 18 at the top of the all-time list.

MOST EUROPA LEAGUE GOALS + ASSISTS

Bruno Fernandes = 41
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang = 40
Dries Mertens = 36
Radamel Falcao = 35
Romelu Lukaku = 34

*Since the start of the 2009/10 season.

Man Utd contract rebel warned against transfer amid new claims Red Devils are ‘losing £150k a day’

Man Utd midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has been warned about a potential move abroad by former Red Devils defender Paul Parker.

A report earlier today claimed that Man Utd have seemingly conceded defeat in their attempts to persuade Mainoo to remain at Old Trafford with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe having ‘declared war’ over his contract policy.

The report insisted that the British billionaire has ‘vowed to slash players’ pay’ as he looks to get the club’s finances back on track.

Mainoo is currently on a contract worth £20,000 a week but, since his increased appearances in the first team, the England international is now demanding £150,000 if he is to sign a new contract.

Despite Mainoo’s potential, Ratcliffe is ‘refusing to budge’ in contract talks with the 19-year-old and his respresentatives, as the co-owner looks to ‘change the culture’ at Old Trafford.

There have been rumours Mainoo could now look abroad to join another club if Man Utd look to cash in on him over the summer but Parker insists the youngster has “got to be clever” if he goes down that route.

Parker told Betfred: “The lad’s done incredible, but he’s picked up a few injuries and his form’s not been anywhere near it was the previous season because when he came back from the Euros he’s picked up little nicks and the change of formation is something that he’s still trying to adjust to.

“If he moves, it would be a big change in his short career so far because he’s been at Manchester United for all his life. If he wants to go abroad and move to a big club in Europe, one that’s going to educate him on a different style of football, then he’s got to choose that club wisely. He’s got to be clever.

“At this moment in time, do I believe what’s being reported? Not really.”

Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro, Jonny Evans, Luke Shaw, Mainoo, Mason Mount and Amad Diallo were all unavailable for the Red Devils’ match against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.

And Football Insider insists that Man Utd are ‘losing £150,000 a day in new blow’ with the Premier League side missing up to ten senior players in recent weeks.

It is likely that Amorim will again be without most of those players ahead of their Premier League match against Leicester City over the weekend and ‘sources have told Football Insider United are paying £1.1million per week – or £157,000 each day – to players currently sidelined through injury.’

Outlining the cost of some individual deals, Football Insider adds:

‘Mount is United’s third-highest earner behind Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes with a £250,000 weekly wage, while Maguire banks £190,000 per week.

‘Shaw is next on the list of injury-stricken stars with a £150,000-a-week salary, with Martinez, Diallo and Yoro earning between £115,000-120,000.

‘Elsewhere, Evans’ deal is worth £65,000 per week, while Heaton and Bayindir rake in between £35,000-45,000.’

This aspect of Amorim’s management was the main reason wonderkid Quenda chose Chelsea over United – The Athletic

Judging by the transfer rumours since Ruben Amorim’s arrival, it almost seemed a formality that Manchester United would sign Geovany Quenda in the summer.

The right wingback slot badly needs quality and the Portuguese wonderkid had reportedly agreed personal terms with the Red Devils and was ready to move to Manchester even if there was no European football on offer at Old Trafford.

Instead, Fabrizio Romano dropped a bombshell earlier today claiming that Chelsea have agreed a deal with Sporting CP for the 17-year-old.

The Athletic‘s David Ornstein explained how the Blues pipped the 20-time English league champions to the deal. He said that the Stamford Bridge side not only offered a longer deal but also agreed to play Quenda in his favoured position.

Quenda to Chelsea

Sporting were also happy to agree to the proposal as the versatile star will remain in Lisbon till 2026 while the three-time European winners would have wanted Quenda to join immediately given the urgent need to replace Diogo Dalot.

Interestingly, the Blues will allow Quenda to play as a winger instead of a wingback, which the player prefers. While Amorim was at the helm, he had to play as either a wingback or a No 10.

“The 17-year-old will remain at the Portuguese club next season and then move to Stamford Bridge in July 2026. A seven-year contract until 2033, with an option to extend by 12 months, is in place.

“The fee is in the region of €45-50 million; not far off what Manchester United were aiming to pay when exploring a deal for Quenda in January.

How Chelsea won the race

“Chelsea intend to deploy him as a pure winger given he is equally comfortable on either side, a position he has predominantly occupied since Amorim left for Old Trafford.”

How United react now will be interesting to see especially considering all the hard work they put in behind the scenes regarding the deal.

There have been links with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong, but he also has Manchester City hot on his tail and given INEOS’ financial situation, the club can ill-afford a bidding war.

Braga’s Roger Fernandes is another star on United’s radar. Dalot’s future is also up in the air with both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich reportedly chasing his signature.

Amorim promises youngster will nail down regular starting place for United if he keeps up his fine form

Ruben Amorim says Ayden Heaven will continue to start for Manchester United if he continues to play like he did against Real Sociedad yesterday.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match against Leicester City, Amorim was asked about the 18 year old’s performance.

“If Ayden Heaven continues like that, he’s going to play!”, Amorim beamed.

“Of course, he’s young, he didn’t play much this season, maybe just 45 minutes for the U21s, then a few minutes here and now a full game. I really like his confidence, I like his pace, I think he’s good in defending the box.

“I think he’s quite complete, but he has a lot of work to do. In the Premier League, we will face a different kind of player and he’s going to be tested in a different way, so we are trying to manage all this because he’s still really young.”

Amorim was also asked if he thinks the players are starting to respond to his methods.

“I feel that in the last games that we can understand better the idea that what we want to do,” he said.

“We are better understanding the plan for the games. We’re giving more time to the team to win or draw games. We are not suffering one goal then losing our minds and suffering other goals.

“So we are understanding better the moments of the game and understanding better the way we want to play.”

On squad rotation, he said:

“With different competitions we have to rotate to protect players. For example, Casemiro was so tired, we didn’t want to risk Manu Ugarte he wanted to stay here [at Carrington] … we have Mason Mount, we want him to return really really slow. Kobbie will maybe return in a few weeks, we’re not sure. Harry Maguire, we don’t want to risk, we’ll see for Sunday.”

“Everything is important and we want to continue with this feeling that we can win games, and games after games. It doesn’t matter about time to prepare, we can do it. We showed it against Arsenal, we have to forget that, we have to forget the table and face them like we faced Real Sociedad and improve our position in the table.

“We need to continue this feeling of winning and improving as a team.

“I know that in football, especially in our moment we can have a really good moment and then drop really fast so our focus is to continue. Don’t be too happy, too depressed. We have to survive, that definition could change in the end but our idea is to improve the team and to prepare fresh for the game against Leicester and not focus a lot and changing our mind because we win or lose.”

Amorim was then asked what he feels about former players’ criticisms of hat-trick hero Bruno Fernandes.

“He’s so important for this team, and you can see by the numbers, in these last games he’s always the guy that scores. He’s not the most important thing, not the only thing, but he’s always there.

“When you play for this team you have to be prepared for the critics and I understand former players had a lot of success and the standard for them was so high. They see things like that sometimes, black and white and life is sometimes black and white, there are other colours and you have to understand the context.

“He’s always there trying his best and I’m really proud to coach a player like him.”

The conversation then turned to Mason Mount’s return from injury.

“I already said that I really love Mason Mount. Because I see him, I know how he suffers, I know he does everything right. He eats right, his physical aspect is perfect. He’s trying too much. Maybe he’s thinking too much about everything.

“He was a European champion. He’s a really talented player. And when the player does everything like he does, he will always have the support of everybody here in the club.

“So we’ll try to manage the load. I saw some players that have a lot of problems during one time but in some moments they can stay fit and I believe a lot in Mason Mount.

“I think he will go to the bench,” the boss said.

“If he’s fit, I’m going to take him. He cannot play too many minutes, but just five minutes of Mason Mount is perfect.”

Amorim issues challenge to Heaven

Friday 14 March 2025 13:30

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has thrown down the gauntlet to young defender Ayden Heaven.

Heaven made his first professional start in senior football during the Reds’ 4-1 win over Real Sociedad on Thursday and impressed in a standout display.

The 19-year-old, who joined the club from Arsenal in the winter transfer window, stood tall to the test posed by La Real, drawing praise from everyone inside Old Trafford.

With the need for reliable defensive options paramount between now and the end of the season, the teenager made a superb first impression with Amorim expressing his own joy.

Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire are just some of the names currently sidelined for the Reds and our boss amplified the need for Heaven to step up in the Premier League as we reach a critical point in the season.

Ahead of our game against Leicester, Ruben spoke to the media about the former Gunners star and more, with his words now available for you to feast upon below…

Ruben, you’ve now lost three games out of the last 12 including a penalty shootout. Having lost quite a lot of matches in a short space of time, do you feel as though the work that you are doing and the ideas that you have are albeit somewhat slowly, starting to show themselves on the pitch?
“I feel that in the last games that we can understand better the idea of what we want to do. We are better understanding the plan for the games. We are giving the team more time to win and to draw the games. We are not suffering one goal and then losing our minds by suffering another goal. We are understanding the moments of the game and also we are understanding better the way we want to play.”

What kind of selection do you think you will be making for the rest of the season? You have obviously got a thin squad at the moment, young players on the bench and not a full bench again. Is there anybody coming back or do you think you will have to rotate from now on?
“With the different competitions, we have to rotate. We are risking some players. For example, Casemiro, he was so tired. We didn’t want to risk [Manuel] Ugarte because today [it] was a decision. In one competition, Ugarte wanted to stay here. We have Mason Mount who will return really slow, Kobbie [Mainoo] will maybe return in a few weeks, I do not know for sure. Harry Maguire, who we tried not to risk, we will see for Sunday. We need all the players and I think against Lyon it will be a different kind of game. The physicality is going to be a different game, more demanding in that aspect and we have a lot of difficult games in the Premier League.”

I think everybody would expect United to beat Leicester, based off the way Leicester have been performing. What are you expecting from them and how important is it to climb up all those different spots to get that extra money at the end of the season?
“Everything is important and we need to continue with this feeling that we can win games. It doesn’t matter the time of rest or the time after to prepare for the next game. We can do it. We showed against Arsenal that we have to be humble and we [often] forget that. Forget the table and face Leicester like we did today against Real Sociedad. We just need to win and improve our position in the table and the most important thing is to continue this feeling of winning and that we are improving as a team.”

Can I just ask about Ayden Heaven. It was such a big call for such a young player to be playing tonight, so how do you think he fared and how do you think he handled the occasion? Is he ready for more regular football this season?
“If he continues like that he is going to play. Of course he is young and he didn’t play much this season, maybe only 45 minutes for the Under-21s, then a few minutes here and now a full game. I really like his confidence. I like his pace, I think he is good in defending the box and I think he is quite complete. But he has a lot of work to do in the Premier League. We will face a different kind of player and he will be tested in a different kind of way, so we are trying to manage all of this because he is still really young.”

How good was Ayden Heaven? Video

How good was Ayden Heaven?

Given his performance, it’s incredible that this was Ayden Heaven’s FIRST senior start…

You have spoken more than once about just ‘surviving’ this season by getting to the summer. After this display tonight how confident are you that you will survive?
“I know that in football, especially in our moment, we can have a really good moment and then drop really fast, so our focus is to continue and don’t be too happy or too depressed. My idea is to continue, we have to survive. That definition could change in the end but my idea is to improve the team so that we are fresh for the game against Leicester. We can’t focus a lot on changing because we will lose our minds.”

Just back on Bruno. When he plays like the way he did tonight, and leads by example and always makes himself available, playing through the pain barrier. Does it surprise you that there are ex-players out there who question his value to Manchester United? And in your opinion, how much worse off would this team be without him this season?
“I think he is so important for this team and you can see by the numbers. You can also see from these last few games. He is not always the guy that scores and it is not the most important thing, but he is always there. When you play for this team, you have to be prepared for the critics. I understand that former players have had a lot of success here and for them, the standards are so high that they see things that are [sometimes not always] black and white. In life sometimes, it is not always black and white, there is some colours and we have to understand the context. He is always there, trying his best and I am really proud to coach a player like him.”

Ruud van Nistelrooy changed to a three-at-the-back system to go up against Chelsea last week and you have mentioned physicality throughout this press conference. When you are going up against a team that has the same shape, does that need for physicality increase because you are going man-for-man in every position?
“I think that is clear because it is a lot of duels, it is man-to-man basically, especially where the ball is, it is man to man. It is going to be so physical, it is a different game and we have to use different positions and different tools to win the game. If we think we are going to play the next game the same way and like we played today, it is a mistake because it is a completely different team that we are going to face and the physicality is really important, especially in our league.”

Can you share anything about those tools?
“No I will not share anything with you guys!”

Ruben Amorim has provided a positive update on Mason Mount, ahead of Manchester United’s away game at Leicester City on Sunday.

The Reds have been without Mount since mid-December, when he was withdrawn during the first half of our derby victory over Manchester City at the Etihad.

It has been a frustrating setback for the England international, as he was starting to perform well in Amorim’s new-look 3-4-3 system.

However, he returned to training earlier this week and the boss revealed he could play a part at the King Power Stadium.

“I think he is going to [be on] the bench,” said Amorim, after the conclusion of our Europa League tie with Real Sociedad on Thursday.

“We will see, but we need every player and if he is fit, I am going to play him. He cannot play too many minutes, just five minutes of Mason Mount is perfect.”

When asked about how much he’s looking forward to having our no.7 back, Ruben replied enthusiastically:

“I already said, I really love Mason Mount. I see him and I know how he suffers.

“He does everything right. He eats right, his physical aspect is perfect, he is trying too much and maybe he is thinking too much about everything. He was European champion, he is a talent and he is a really talented player.

“When a player does everything like he does, he will always have the support of everybody here in the club.

TRAINING LIVE | Watch the moment Dalot, Heaven, Mount, Obi, Onana and Ugarte all ran the gauntlet…

Earlier this week, Amorim ruled Leny Yoro out until April while Harry Maguire is also a doubt for the clash with his former club. Ayden Heaven played well as the left centre-back against La Real on his first senior start and United also have Victor Lindelof to call upon.

Manuel Ugarte was, like Lindelof, an unused substitute at Old Trafford and Amorim could utilise the pair – as well as the likes of Toby Collyer and Christian Eriksen – as he aims to keep things fresh in the East Midlands.

“With the different competitions, we have to rotate,” he added. “We are risking some players. For example, Casemiro, he was so tired.

“We didn’t want to risk Ugarte. Because today was a decision: in one competition, Ugarte wanted to stay here. We have Mason Mount who will return really slow, Kobbie [Mainoo] will maybe return in a few weeks, I don’t know for sure.

“Harry Maguire, who we tried not to risk, we will see for Sunday. We need all the players and I think against Lyon [in the Europa League quarter-finals] it will be a different kind of game. The physicality is going to be a different game, more demanding in that aspect and we have a lot of difficult games in the Premier League.”

The Foxes are close to having a fully fit squad, as Ricardo Pereira was able to return from a long-term hamstring injury during Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Chelsea.

The Portugal full-back was introduced in the closing minutes by manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, for his first appearance since early November.

Abdul Fatawu is the only known absentee, as he has a season-ending knee injury, but the relegation battlers could afford to leave the likes of Odsonne Edouard, Oliver Skipp and Jannik Vestergaard out of the matchday squad at Stamford Bridge.

Van Nistelrooy has switched to using a back five in recent weeks, amidst a difficult run of form which has seen them lose each of their last five league games without scoring.
