Real Betis star Isco suggests audacious project to secure Antony’s long-term future at the club

Manchester United winger Antony has taken to loan life at Real Betis like a duck to water, and his derby day passion helped them to a scintillating win over local rivals Sevilla.

Such is the impact he has made at his temporary employers, teammate Isco jokingly outlined the lengths the club should go to to keep the Brazilian at the Villamarin Stadium a little while longer.

Speaking to DAZN after the 2-1 triumph, in which Antony played a key part, the former Real Madrid man said: “We have to do one of those crowdfunding campaigns to see if we can bring him in for at least one more year.”

Many United fans may be prepared to donate some spare change to keep Antony away from Old Trafford, a stage which was clearly too big for him.

But finances aside it is nice to see the player blossoming and performing well in an environment which seems much more suited to him.

Isco revealed that, perhaps unsurprisingly, there were some expectations about the much-maligned 25-year-old when he arrived, but that he has proven the doubters wrong.

He said: “I’m happy to enjoy Antony. The truth is that he has surprised us all with the humility with which he arrived, with his desire to help, to contribute. The truth is that we are very happy.

“We have noticed a change since he arrived, and we are very happy for him, for the team, and eager to continue doing things well.”

Antony, who further endeared himself to Betis fans after the win by waving a huge flag while hoisted aloft Adrian’s shoulders, has done things better in Spain than he managed in England.

The Brazilian has notched four goals and four assists in 12 matches, compared to his 12 goals and five assists in 96 for United.

Should Isco’s crowdfunder fail to materialise, it remains to be seen how Betis will approach the winger’s situation at the end of the season.

His loan deal does not include an option to buy, and come the summer the reality of United having spent more than £80m on the player will come back to bite them.

Antony is on big wages and they may also prove a stumbling block for Betis – or any other club attracted by his eye-catching performances in La Liga.

Liverpool transfers and Mikel Arteta shackles overshadow Ruben Amorim

The last international break is over and we’re down to the final four of the FA Cup. The end of the season is in sight.

Who still has a point to prove, who’s got it all on the line, and what are going to be the big talking points for the last couple of months of the season? Massive, it is.

Liverpool, off the pitch more than on it

It should be a cruise to the Premier League title from here, especially with no other competitions to serve as a distraction.

Cracks have shown in Arne Slot’s side the longer the season has gone on, with their performances against PSG and Newcastle prompting particular concern. But the cracks are appearing too late to torpedo the top end of the Premier League table.

But they’ve still got those bloody contract talks to sort out. Even if Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk stay, leading chronometric scientists have confirmed they are indeed not getting any younger. And that’s to say nothing of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s massive potential departure.

Darwin Nunez is meanwhile not the standard required for a centre-forward, with the fun enjoyed at his expense going some way to let Diogo Jota off the hook for also having been largely rubbish since returning from injury.

That could leave Liverpool with a hell of a re-build to do this summer if they are to stay top of the pile next season. After an extremely slow pre-season transfer window last year, planning that now behind the scenes is going to be just as important as seeing the title out on the pitch.

Mikel Arteta

It’s all about the Champions League for the Arsenal boss now with the Gunners virtual certainties to finish second in the Premier League again. A quarter-final clash with reigning champions Real Madrid provides a significant hurdle to Arteta claiming only his second major trophy as a manager following the 2020 FA Cup.

Dispensing with Real would only raise expectations on Arsenal to go all the way – but however things pan out in Europe, Arteta is at or approaching the point where the considerable goodwill he has rightly earned for restoring the club from mid-table obscurity starts to mean less and less.

The title race for this year is all but over, but the Gunners boss will be expected to show signs that his team can actually go on to top the table next season. They have very little to lose at this point; why not let the handbrake off and at least offer a bit of excitement?

Nottingham Forest

The absence of a real title race has left Forest’s rise from relegation battlers to strong Champions League hopefuls and FA Cup contenders as perhaps the story of the season so far – but there’s still time for a glorious season to become a glorious failure.

With the Premier League almost certain to get a fifth Champions League place for next season, Forest have the comfort of a six- or seven-point cushion (depending how Newcastle’s game in hand goes). Most clubs would feel confident in that position, but Forest fans have been pinching themselves since their early-season victory over Liverpool and still won’t believe they are about to return to European football’s top table until it’s mathematically confirmed.

Forest have the benefit of one of the kindest final run-ins in the division – the third-easiest on paper, by our calculations, behind only Manchester City and Wolves. Chelsea are the only side currently in the top eight left on Forest’s fixture list, and by the time they visit the City Ground on the final day, that game may well be irrelevant.

That just leaves Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to hold their nerve and keep doing what they have done all season, with their superb defence providing the main platform for their success so far. They should do it, but pressure can do funny things to a team.

The race for Europe

Even if we assume Forest do indeed see it through, that still leaves two more Champions League places up for grabs with just five points separating 4th from 10th.

Chelsea (49 points) currently occupy one of those spots, but have been in poor form since Christmas and have a particularly inhospitable final run-in.

That includes London derbies against Tottenham, Brentford and Fulham, and a final four games that reads Liverpool (h), Newcastle (a), Manchester United (h – yeah, alright) and Nottingham Forest (a). But we’ll come back to Chelsea a bit later…

5th-placed Manchester City (48 points) still don’t look their old selves, but have at least stopped losing every bloody week and have six bottom-half sides left on the agenda over their remaining nine games.

It’ll go down as a disappointing season for them either way, given the standards they have set for themselves, but they’d have gladly taken an FA Cup and Champions League qualification as consolation prizes if you’d offered them back in December, to say nothing of the silly but kind of fun-looking Club World Cup.

After their League Cup victory parties, Newcastle (47 points) must re-focus on the league, with a tricky spell against Villa, Brighton, Ipswich (yeah, alright), Chelsea and Arsenal towards the end of the season surely set to be where their fight is won or lost.

Brighton (47 points) have been resurgent after an awful run that came to a head with their 7-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, and the next week is massive for them as they host Aston Villa in midweek before travelling to arch-rivals Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Then there’s Fulham (45 points), Aston Villa (45 points) and Bournemouth (44 points), all still in the race despite their recent inconsistency. All of them will need to start stringing results together again to stand a chance of claiming a European place (bar Villa, who still have routes available via the FA Cup and Champions League).

Fulham and Villa will need to be at their best over the next week to stay in it; the Cottagers face Arsenal and Liverpool next, while Villa take on Brighton and Forest.

Enzo Maresca

We’ll politely say the Chelsea manager’s style may be an acquired taste. There are plenty of Leicester and Chelsea fans who would simply say it can be boring as f***.

The Italian is able to make a case for himself about that when he is delivering results, but just like at the King Power Stadium last year, a blistering start to the season has given way to a decidedly crap run of form that now stands at just four wins in their past 13 Premier League games.

With Champions League qualification now in jeopardy and Chelsea not famed for giving their managers the benefit of the doubt (which has remained the case despite their change of ownership), these final few weeks of the season feel very do or die for Maresca. Even a Conference League title may not be enough to spare him from getting the chop before the Club World Cup gets under way.

Ruben Amorim

This season was always going to be a bit of a gimme for Ruben Amorim. If he did well, it was all Erik ten Hag’s fault that Manchester United were sh*t. If he didn’t, then the squad simply isn’t good enough to work under any manager. But even with that kind of generosity, it has been difficult to say the Portuguese has made an impact yet at Old Trafford.

A full pre-season should be a massive help, but they’re not going to be able to change all 25 players this summer, much as they might want to; some of his current squad are going to need to start delivering.

There have finally been some small but shaky signs of progress over the past few weeks, perhaps, and a tricky run-in that includes six of the current top-five hopefuls gives Amorim a chance to show they are fairly definitively a better outfit now than when he took over.

A good run in the Europa League would certainly do no harm, either, especially as winning it would come with a Champions League place that would be massively beneficial in the summer transfer market.

Tottenham in the Europa League

Same goes for Tottenham, of course.

Like Amorim, Ange Postecoglou is in a position to throw his heftiest weight behind those Thursday night fixtures. The Premier League is a write-off at this point anyway; who cares about the difference between finishing 11th and finishing 16th?

Aston Villa and Crystal Palace in the FA Cup

Even for a cup specialist like Unai Emery, winning the Champions League still currently feels like a mildly absurd proposition…though we’re not sure whether he would be encouraged or discouraged that PSG largely pummelled Liverpool but still needed penalties at the end of two legs to get the job done.

The FA Cup is very much on the table, however, with Villa arguably – and respectfully – getting the exact semi-final draw they would have wanted in spite of losing 4-1 to Crystal Palace just a few weeks ago, while Nottingham Forest face Manchester City.

Palace would have something to say about that, mind, especially after the agony of finishing as runners-up twice in living memory, back in 1990 and 2016 – and they don’t exactly have Villa’s undivided attention the same way Palace do in reverse.

Kieran McKenna

This writer gets very little right when it comes to pre-season predictions, but I am going to congratulate myself for having a hunch coming into this season that Kieran McKenna may not live up to the hype he generated by leading Ipswich to the now very rare and difficult feat of back-to-back promotions.

There’s no sense of emperor’s new clothes here, but the Tractor Boys had to win an awful lot of games from behind last season, with McKenna’s use of his bench and mid-game tweaks helping to overcome any accusations he had been getting it wrong to begin with.

We were impressed in the first half of the season with the fight that Ipswich consistently showed despite their awful results, but as the season comes towards its end, the Northern Irishman is starting to gain a few doubters – funnily enough, along much the same lines as our initial concerns.

It may be that that’s entirely unfair. The gap between the Premier League and Championship is absolutely enormous now, never mind trying to go from League One to competing in the top flight in such a short period. Southampton changed manager and remain just as bad, Leicester changed manager and got worse. Sometimes, a team is just not good enough.

Still, there is a risk that the sheen may come off a manager touted as a potential future Big Eight manager if Ipswich continue to go down with such a whimper. There’s no way they’re staying up, but bidding farewell to the Premier League with a scalp or two in their hands would help remove some of those emerging question marks about McKenna’s place in the managerial hierarchy.

Southampton

The worst Premier League side there has ever been at this stage of the season, with their nine points even outstripping Sunderland 2005/06 and Derby 2007/08 (both 10) for sheer awfulness.

Just three more points from the final nine games will ensure they are not quite as unbelievably awful as Derby were 17 years ago with their final 11-point…well, we’ll use the word ‘haul’ in the absence of a more suitable alternative. Go Saints!

The Championship promotion race

We once again have a three-way race for the two automatic promotion spots with just two points separating leaders Sheffield United from Leeds United and Burnley.

The play-off picture is similarly tight. Sunderland can start planning for the play-offs already: they are on an island all of their own in fourth place in an otherwise compact division.

But 5th and 6th is anyone’s guess. 5th-placed Coventry are just two points ahead of Bristol City in 8th, while everyone down to Millwall in 13th will still feel they have an outside chance if they can finish the season in brilliant form.

Frankly, if it were Sheffield United, Leeds and Burnley, it would be a bit boring (give us Coventry please). But at least it’s not going to be the same three that just went down; Luton are currently second from bottom and on course for League One.

Thomas Tuchel

His initial England squad looked like he had written it down 18 months ago and not changed it. Any chance he might take form into account over the next couple of months?

Probably not. But if he does…

Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Morgan Gibbs-White

Between his roles for club and country, poor Phil Foden has played an unbelievable amount of football over the past five years, and it has finally started to show this season. The playmaker’s defence of last season’s player of the year awards has been one of the most unconvincing we’ve ever seen, bar a brief flurry of goals just after the new year.

Cole Palmer has succumbed to a similar kind of jadedness after his breakthrough season last term, with no goals in his past 10 appearances in all competitions going back to mid-January. We have to agree with Maresca that the minor hamstring injury that forced/allowed Palmer to pull out of England duty might actually do him some good.

And then, at the other end of the scale altogether, is Morgan Gibbs-White: in brilliant form for his club, but initially overlooked by Tuchel. The Forest midfielder will be desperate to make himself actually irresistible before England return to action in June.

Marcus Rashford

Currently undergoing a renaissance at Aston Villa, and presumably would welcome the club taking up the option to make that move permanent.

At the moment that looks a no-brainer; if he keeps his nose clean and keeps chipping in with goals and assists, Villa would surely snap Manchester United’s hand off this summer.

Amorim at loggerheads with INEOS as he makes his stance on key player sale “crystal clear” – report

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has made his opinion known on Bruno Fernandes’ transfer links to Real Madrid.

Yesterday, The Peoples Person relayed that Madrid are reportedly willing to fork out £90 million in order to lure the Old Trafford playmaker to the Santiago Bernabéu.

While £90 million is certainly an appealing figure, it appears as if Amorim and the Man United board of directors may have conflicting views of the club captain’s potential transfer.

“Manchester United gaffer Ruben Amorim is keen to keep skipper Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford, despite rumoured interest from Real Madrid,” the Daily Record reported.

“Despite Amorim’s desire to retain Fernandes, it’s suggested that due to United’s financial situation, they would ‘consider a big offer’,” the report continued.

TEAMtalk went so far as to claim that “Ruben Amorim is understood to have made his feelings clear to the board about the sale of Bruno Fernandes amid claims Real Madrid are willing to shatter the Red Devils’ transfer record to sign the star.”

“Amorim has made it crystal clear to Ratcliffe and his fellow INEOS board members that the sale of the player would be a huge mistake,” the report continued.

Madrid’s interest in recruiting Fernandes comes as no surprise. In addition to being United’s skipper and key playmaker, the Portuguese midfielder has been one of the team’s most crucial players this season.

As a result of his fine form, Fernandes has been nominated for the Premier League March Player of the Month prize.

Fernandes has been United’s top attacker in the Premier League this season, leading both the scoring charts with eight goals and the assist standing with nine assists.

Aside from his finishing, Fernandes has proven clinical in the midfield, with 80% passing and an impressive average of 2.4 key passes per game.

Even when tracking back, the United captain has been highly effective, averaging 2.3 tackles per game and 5.8 ball recoveries. (Stats via Sofascore)

While a £90 million transfer would greatly boost United’s budget, it would be incredibly challenging for the club to find a replacement for Fernandes with the same level of influence and impact, hence why Amorim’s view can certainly be understood.

United academy duo are just one match away from joining the Nevilles and Keanes in history

Manchester United’s u18s take on Aston Villa in the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup on Monday night.

After winning the treble last season, the FA Youth Cup was the only competition to allude United’s u18s.

To lift the trophy this season would be special for the entire team but even more so for two plays in particular, Jack and Tyler Fletcher, the sons of Darren Fletcher.

Lifting the illustrious trophy is a rare feat, United have done so 11 times since its inception in 1952, more than any other club.

But lifting it alongside your brother is an even rarer feat, although it has been done before at United.

If United get past Aston Villa in the semi-finals, the Fletcher brothers could join the Neville and Keane brothers in playing alongside each other in an FA Youth Cup final.

Gary and Phil Neville both lifted the FA Youth Cup but didn’t manage to do it in 1993 when they played together against Leeds United.

Gary famously won the cup as part of the class of ‘92 when they beat Crystal Palace in the final but he couldn’t repeat the feat when the captained the side the next year alongside younger brother Phil.

Phil Neville had the chance to captain United in an FA Youth Cup final himself two years later when United defeated Tottenham on penalties to lift the cup.

Perhaps less widely known, are the Keane brothers, Michael and Will, who were apart of the 2011 FA Youth Cup winning side which defeated Harry Maguire’s Sheffield United.

Will Keane scored three goals across the two-legged affair.

Twins, just like the Fletchers, both Keane brothers played for United’s first team but didn’t manage to make the breakthrough long term.

Michael notched five first team appearances before having a very successful career at Everton, while Will made three appearances and now plies his trade at Preston North End.

The two Fletchers won’t just match the Keanes if they get to the FA Youth Cup final though, the two twin pairings already share a unique international career as well.

Despite being twins, both sets represent different countries to their brothers.

Jack captained England u18s over the recent international break while Tyler captained Scotland u19s.

The Keane brothers on the other hand eventually swapped nations when they reached senior level. Michael represented Ireland at youth level before becoming a senior international for Ireland while Will made the opposite route.

Jack and Tyler Fletcher have been mainstays in United’s line-up in their cup run so far and will be hoping to join the Nevilles and Keanes with a win on Monday night.

A big thank you to the more than 1,000 Manchester United fans who have bought tickets and will attend tonight’s FA Youth Cup semi-final at Villa Park (Monday).

Tickets remain available thanks to Aston Villa opening up an extra section for our magnificent travelling support.

We know it’s no small ask getting to a different city on a Monday evening, in time for a 19:00 BST kick-off. The players and staff are so appreciative of those expected to do so.

FA YOUTH CUP PREVIEW | The story so far, as told by our U18 players ahead of next Monday’s Villa Park semi-final…

Pre-match, Under-18s lead coach Adam Lawrence paid tribute to the United fans who helped our young Reds progress in last month’s quarter-final at Arsenal.

“There was a nice moment — it wasn’t nice at the time! — when we were 2-1 down and it was just in that period where we looked like we might be running out of ideas and you could hear singing coming from the crowd,” Lawrence recalled.

“And I realised it was the Man United fans, it wasn’t the Arsenal fans!

“People can’t take it for granted how much the players appreciate the support from all the supporters and that extra bit of energy that it gives them.”

The 3-2 extra-time victory at the Emirates Stadium was the most dramatic of our four Youth Cup games so far this season, but all have been entertaining. Before facing the Gunners, United had hit five past each of Coventry City, Preston North End and Chelsea, all at home.

The winners of Aston Villa v Manchester United will host the FA Youth Cup final, facing the winners of Watford v Manchester City.

If you’d like to attend Monday’s game, tickets remain available through Aston Villa’s website, here. Please buy your tickets in blocks B1, B2 or B3, where our supporters have been encouraged to congregate. We can’t wait to hear your support.

Please note, due to FA restrictions, we are not showing the game live on MUTV but we will post highlights on Tuesday. The action is to be shown on the FA Player and YouTube channel.

Man Utd ignored ‘red flag’ to sign £64m flop with ‘walk away’ plea ‘undermined’ after ‘data warning’

According to reports, Manchester United looked past a ‘red flag’ when they invested around £64m plus add-ons to sign Rasmus Hojlund.

The Denmark international joined the Red Devils during the 2023 summer transfer window from Serie A outfit Atalanta in a deal which could be worth around £72m with add-ons.

Man Utd were also linked with Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani in this window, but they splashed out to sign Hojlund as a slightly cheaper alternative after he scored nine Serie A goals in 2022/23.

United needed to sign a second striker to compete with Hojlund, but they used their budget on the 22-year-old and former boss Erik ten Hag had to rely too much on the inexperienced forward last season.

Given those circumstances, Hojlund enjoyed a strong debut season as he scored 16 goals in all competitions, but he has been heavily criticised for his poor form this term.

READ: Ranking the Premier League ‘Big Six’ by magnitude of their 2025 summer rebuild

Before the international break, Hojlund ended his prolonged goal drought, but he only has three goals in his 24 Premier League appearances this season.

With Hojlund and Zirkzee, Man Utd have one of the worst attacks in the Premier League, and they are expected to prioritise a new striker when the summer transfer window opens.

A ‘special report’ from The Telegraph has delved into ‘Man Utd’s data revolution’ and commented on recent failures in the transfer market.

It is noted that ‘the work of a data team is undermined if the red flags they raise – and recommendations they make – are overlooked as decision-makers act out of desperation or indulge a manager’s fancy’.

Man Utd are said to have overpaid to sign Hojlund after they were encouraged to ‘walk away’ on one condition.

‘Rasmus Hojlund’s transfer from Atalanta is also an interesting case in point. United had been looking at a number of strikers that summer, including Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani after resolving not to get into a protracted battle with Tottenham for Harry Kane on the grounds of his age and price.

‘The data on Hojlund was encouraging and, with the right training, environment and support, there was a feeling a transfer presented significant upsides for the right price. The reports from the scouting team about Hojlund’s character and personality were also very favourable.

‘Nonetheless, the club’s financial modelling had suggested United should consider walking away if the price began to get above £50 million. United ended up paying Atalanta an initial £64 million rising to £72 million.

‘In reality, the warning signs had been there the previous summer when United, who had been determined not to be held to ransom, panicked after a bad start under Ten Hag and ended up spending wildly over the odds on Antony and Casemiro, who was awarded a four-year contract worth £350,000 a week despite already being 30 years old.’

Preview: United one step away from potential Manchester derby as Old Trafford Youth Cup final beckons

Manchester United u18s will take part in their biggest match of the season so far when they take to Villa Park on Monday night.

Adam Lawrence’s u18s are away to Aston Villa in the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup after dispatching Arsenal in a scintillating match at the Emirates earlier in the month.

A tough test awaits United in an Aston Villa side who looked strong in the UEFA Youth League before being eliminated by Barcelona in the round of 16.

So far in the FA Youth Cup, Villa opened with sizeable victories over Accrington Stanley and Newcastle before a closer 3-2 win over Bristol City.

Their quarter-finals tie was back to comfort though as they put Plymouth Argyle to the sword with a convincing 3-0 win at Villa Park.

Despite being only fifth in the u18s Premier League South, Villa have a very talented side with many of the players featuring regularly at u21s level.

One such starlet will be a familiar face for Adam Lawrence and the United players.

Mason Cotcher donned the red of United last season while on trial after departing Sunderland and before ultimately signing with Villa.

Cotcher featured off the bench in a 4-0 win over Leeds United as United went on to be crowned league champions.

The 18-year-old striker has been on fire for the Birmingham side this season with five goals in four matches so far in the competition.

Other talents to look out for in the claret and blue include Bradley Burrowes and Cole Brannigan, both of whom have played alongside United players at international level for England and Northern Ireland respectively.

Speaking ahead of the match Adam Lawrence said “everyone’s really excited about the game.”

“This competition obviously means a lot to the players and the club, and to get to this stage of it and be playing in a really good semi-final game against really good opposition in Aston Villa at Villa Park, there’s not much to not get excited about!”

If United can get past Aston Villa, it tees up a potential final at Old Trafford with United guaranteed to be hosts of the final if they make it.

A Manchester derby final is also on the cards with Manchester City taking on Watford in the other semi-finals.

First though, United vs Aston Villa will be streamed live on the FA’s Youtube channel and tickets are still available to watch at the ground for Monday’s 19:00 BST kickoff.

Man Utd: INEOS sanction U-turn on ‘ticket prices’ vs Man City as fan ‘refusal’ forces ‘slash’ decision

According to reports, Manchester United have ‘slashed ticket prices’ for this Sunday’s derby against Manchester City to ensure the match is a ‘sell-out’.

INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been heavily criticised over the past year as he’s sanctioned a huge cost-cutting programme to balance the books at Old Trafford.

The Glazer family ran Man Utd poorly, so Ratcliffe felt it necessary to make unpopular decisions to cut costs wherever necessary and his popularity swiftly evaporated after his takeover was initially met with overwhelming positivity.

There have been mass redundancies, an increase in ticket prices, the removal of benefits club legends and the scrapping of free lunches for staff.

READ: Ranking the Premier League ‘Big Six’ by magnitude of their 2025 summer rebuild

The move to raise ticket prices has been blasted by supporters as Man Utd are enduring a woeful season, spending most of the campaign in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Man Utd need to string some wins together to finish in the top-half and they need to win the Europa League to seal a place in Europe ahead of next season.

The Red Devils travel to face Nottingham Forest in their first game after the international break on Tuesday night before they host Man City in the last Manchester derby of the season on Sunday afternoon.

United’s raised ticket prices were initially in place for Sunday’s game, but a report from The Sun claims the board have been forced to to reduce the cost of entry with supporters ‘refusing to pay top dollar’.

The report explains:

‘Man Utd have slashed ticket prices for next Sunday’s derby against City at Old Trafford after fans refused to pay to watch Ruben Amorim’s struggling side.

‘United were lashed by fans’ groups earlier this season for hiking prices for members to attend home games to a minimum of £66 — and removing all concessions for kids and OAPs.

‘Tickets for the City game did not sell out at those prices, so United reverted to the cheaper rate.

‘United – 13th in the Prem – put tickets back on sale last week. Members able to buy seats at the reduced rate of £40 – and £25 for concessions. And the game is now expected to be a sell-out.

‘Future home Prem matches are also available to members on the club’s website for less than the minimum £66 price.’

The 1958 fan group also confirms there will be another fan protest during Sunday’s match. Chris Haymes of the 1958 group said: “We’re going to get people to sit in their seats.

“MUST (Manchester United Supporters Trust) did a flash survey and they reckon there’s going to be about 7,000 concessions, OAP people, who are not going to renew their season tickets.

“So, they’re trying to price them out of their seats, so we’re going to tell you to sit in your seat, stay in your seat. That’s your seat that you paid for.”

Video: powerful anti-Glazer protest rocks Broadhurst Park as FC United of Manchester fans join the fight

Manchester United fan group The 1958 and FC United of Manchester fans held a joint protest against the Glazer ownership before FC United’s match versus Stockton Town on Saturday afternoon.

Fan groups have ramped up the protests lately as the Glazer’s 20th anniversary as owners of the club approaches.

Many fans have also been disillusioned by new part owners Ineos’ decisions such as raising the price of tickets and cutting funds to former players.

Supporters recently held a protest before United welcomed Arsenal to Old Trafford earlier in the month.

It was also announced that United supporters would be joining forces with FC United of Manchester fans and they did just that on Saturday afternoon at Broadhurst Park.

The Guardian report that “around 200 FC and United supporters gathered at Broadhurst Park before FC hosted Stockton Town in the Northern Premier League Premier Division. Outside the ground, flares were let off in the red of FC and United along with green and yellow ones, the colours of Newton Heath, United’s original name.”

“Anti-Glazer chants and songs were sung by fans, with one displaying a flag that showed an image of the former United forward, Eric Cantona, and the legend ‘Eric the King’.”

Sir Jim Ratcliffe also did not escape criticism according to The Manchester Evening News, as he faced some rather negative chanting.

“We want Glazers out, we want Glazers out’ was aired countless times. Ratcliffe was the next in line to face criticism. ‘Just like the Glazers, Jim Ratcliffe’s a c–t’, a section of the protesters sang.”

At a question and answer session held by the 1958 they confirmed that there would be a sit-in against Manchester City at Old Trafford this coming Sunday.

The protest was a significant event as “Saturday’s action, called United United Day, was the first formal linking of forces by FC United and a United fan group since the non-league club’s foundation, which caused division between fans.”

FC United’s chairman, Nick Boom, defended his club’s involvement by stating, “some of our fan base might think: ‘Why are we reconnecting with United, it’s not our battle?’ But, actually, it’s a battle for football. It transcends football clubs. It’s about football fans.”

Love United, Hate Glazers! 🇾🇪

United defensive target whose “name is on everyone’s lips” outlines his preferred transfer destination – report

Manchester United target Dean Huijsen would prefer a move to Real Madrid according to reports.

The Red Devils are keen to add another centre back to their group this summer as Ruben Amorim has moved the team’s formation to a 3-4-3.

What’s more, it is highly likely that veteran defenders Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans will both leave the club this summer, meaning the team will be a little lighter in these positions.

Consequently, United have been linked to a number of defenders and one name that has come up is AFC Bournemouth’s 19 year old centre back, Dean Huijsen.

The Spanish international has a release clause of around £50 million that will come into effect this summer and numerous top clubs are keeping an eye on the situation.

The Peoples Person has also recently expressed that the teenager would be a substantially better fit for the Red Devils than often-linked Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

United may run into some problems though as reports from Spain suggest that the defender would prefer a move to Real Madrid above any other team.

“His emergence in England has caught the attention of some of Europe’s big names, especially Real Madrid and FC Barcelona” and his “name is on everyone’s lips,” the reports state.

“According to reports, Huijsen, born in the Netherlands, has shown a certain preference for signing for Real Madrid” but he’s still on FC Barcelona’s list should they require a replacement for Ronald Araujo this summer.

“With his 1.95 meters of height, leadership and ability to play out from the back, his profile fits both the Barça philosophy and the Madrid defensive model.”

The outlet also claims that Huijsen’s decision to choose to represent the Spanish national team also “reflects his vision for the future.”

What’s more, the Spaniard has hardly hidden his interest in a move to La Liga by responding to a question whilst on international duty, “Real Madrid? It’s a great honour for me to be of interest to such a great club.”
