United submit blockbuster €50m offer for Barcelona wonderkid termed “best in the world” in his position – report

Manchester United’s need for another wingback has been well-documented with neither Diogo Dalot nor Noussair Mazraoui capable of fulfilling Ruben Amorim’s attacking demands.

Both stars are traditional full-backs and the difference since Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu came in has been clear for all to see. Which is why the Portuguese had coach wants INEOS to bring in another piece of the jigsaw in the summer.

The January signing has excelled on the left but he can also play on the right and the Red Devils could opt for another left-sided wingback.

As per reports in Spain (via F365), Alejandro Balde remains a target for United and they have even presented an initial offer of €50 million to the Catalan giants.

Balde key for Barca

Hansi Flick is delighted with the Spaniard’s impact this season and has categorically instructed Deco to reject the offer and that is what the La Liga giants have done.

The 21-year-old, termed ” the best in the world” in his position, has one goal and eight assists this season and his ability with the ball makes him the perfect fit for Amorim’s system.

He is in the 98 percentile for successful take-ons and in the 97 percentile for progressive carries (via fbref), which is exactly why Flick does not want to lose him under any circumstance.

“Balde is back at 100% and is an indispensable part of the Barcelona lineup. Defensively, he still has some shortcomings, but he’s a lethal weapon every time he joins the attack, thanks to his speed and depth.

“This has caught the attention of Manchester United , who are looking for a new owner for the left wing, despite signing Patrick Dorgu in January, and have their eyes on the La Masia pearl.

United submit offer

“And they didn’t hesitate to present an initial offer valued at 50 million euros, which Camp Nou instantly rejected, considering it insufficient.

“Flick is delighted with Balde, who has scored one goal and provided eight assists this season, and has made it very clear that he doesn’t want to lose him under any circumstances. So he’s untouchable for Barça.”

Whether United mount a sustained challenge for his signature remains to be seen but given Balde’s love for his boyhood club and his importance to the coach’s system, it is likely that the Spain international will remain at Camp Nou.

The 20-time English league champions will likely have to move on to other options with Jeremie Frimpong and Roger Fernandes among the options being eyed for the right side after the Geovany Quenda deal went sideways.

“To be honest, probably …” Chelsea manager Maresca opens up on Jadon Sancho’s future at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has finally addressed the loan termination rumours surrounding Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho.

Sancho joined Chelsea on loan from United last summer in a deal that included a £25 million obligation to buy, contingent on the Blues finishing at least 14th in the Premier League this season.

Currently, Chelsea sit in fourth place, 15 points ahead of 15th-placed Everton, and it appears it’s only a matter of time before that condition is fulfilled.

However, due to Sancho’s poor performances over the past few months, there have been suggestions that Chelsea could back out of their obligation to sign the forward permanently. Last month, David Ornstein revealed that Maresca’s side will have to pay United £5m to cancel the arrangement.

Ahead of Chelsea’s meeting with Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, Maresca spoke about Sancho’s future while admitting the England international needs to improve.

Maresca’s said that the 25-year-old’s situation has not changed despite the emergence of a clause that could see him remain a United player.

The Spanish coach told reporters [via Independent], “All the players that are with us, I love all of them. But in this moment, it is the moment to finish well. It is not the moment to think about next season.”

“I am completely focused on nine games, two months to go. I’m completely focused about that and then what happens in the summer, we’ll see. All the ones that are here, I want them all to be happy to be here.”

“To be honest, probably you have more news than me in terms of Jadon. For me, Jadon’s situation doesn’t change. It is exactly the same. For sure, in terms of numbers, he could do better, no doubt.”

Maresca added, “But it is not just about Jadon. I think we have more players in the same situation. I don’t need to give Jadon a message because I speak with Jadon every day.”

“I had a conversation yesterday with him. He just has to give his best until the end and this is what we want from Jadon.”

It has been reported that Chelsea are still keen on signing Sancho permanently, potentially with the intention of selling him for a profit in the summer transfer window.

United set to make a massive U-turn, pushing to re-sign star they pushed out in 2023 – report

Manchester United are considering re-signing David de Gea, as per reports.

Much has been written about ex-United boss Erik ten Hag’s disastrous decision to acquire Antony and Casemiro in big-money deals.

However, this season, Andre Onana, another one of his expensive signings, has come under fire for his inconsistent performances. His lack of box dominance and dire positioning have led to many avoidable goals.

Signed to replace United’s long-term servant De Gea in the summer of 2023, Onana has yet to convince the United faithful that he is capable of filling the Spaniard’s void.

In a recent podcast appearance, ex-Red Devil Ben Foster suggested that replacing the United legend with Onana was one of the biggest transfer mistakes in Premier League history. Now, a report in Spain suggests the club’s hierarchy is trying to make amends.

Manchester United want to re-sign David de Gea

According to Fichajes, United are “seriously considering” De Gea’s return.

The 34-year-old, who spent more than 12 months on the sidelines after exiting Old Trafford, has made a strong comeback at Fiorentina.

De Gea has kept an impressive 10 clean sheets, helping Fiorentina to push for a European place. La Viola currently sit eighth in the Serie A table, a place above AC Milan.

His solid performances have “not gone unnoticed” at United who “know his departure was a mistake, and they want to recover what they should never have lost.”

De Gea’s contract in Florence is due to expire at the end of the season but Fiorentina “will activate a clause to extend his contract for another year.” As such, the Mancunians will have to hold talks with the Italian outfit to bring back their former goalkeeper.

Having said that, the Premier League is a different beast and De Gea’s resurgence should not cover up the fact that he also made a number of costly errors in his last 24 months in Manchester.

Instead of knocking on the doors of the ageing shot-stopper, Ineos is more likely to replace Onana with a younger player. As such, it is best to take the claim with a huge pinch of salt.

Brighton plotting shock move for United star pushed to the fringes by Amorim – report

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof is reportedly on the radar of several Premier League clubs.

Ruben Amorim’s arrival has led to more opportunities for centre-backs at United due to the Portuguese tactician’s formation that sees him field three central defenders.

However, the introduction of 3-4-3 at Old Trafford has done little to improve the fortunes of Lindelof.

Amorim has handed the 30-year-old just two league starts so far. Most recently, he left him as an unused substitute in United’s 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest.

Lindelof’s situation at United has not impacted his role at Sweden, as he remains a key player under Jon Dahl Tomasson. Further, a number of clubs are looking to sign him in the summer.

According to TBR Football, Brighton & Hove Albion are keeping tabs on Lindelof and could hand him an opportunity to continue his stay in the Premier League.

The Swede’s contract at United is due to expire in June, allowing him to join a new club on a free transfer this summer.

The Seagulls face competition from Everton and West Ham United.

Early this year, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Moyes wanted to sign Lindelof in the winter window.

The ex-United manager is showing an interest in the player ahead of the summer as well.

Benfica, who sold Lindelof to United in a £40 million deal in 2017, are also considering re-signing their former talent.

United, meanwhile, are understood to be exploring the market to find a new defender. Recently, The Peoples Person covered a report saying the Red Devils see Genoa star Koni De Winter as Lindelof’s possible replacement.

Man Utd ‘one key advantage’ over Liverpool, Chelsea to sign £40m star revealed with ‘feasible swap deal’

According to reports, ‘one key advantage’ is boosting Manchester United’s chances of beating Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to sign Liam Delap.

The 22-year-old progressed through the ranks at Man City, who sold him to Premier League rivals Ipswich Town during last year’s summer transfer window.

Delap shone on loan in the Championship with Hull City last season, and joined newly-promoted Ipswich for around £20m.

The England U21 international has surpassed expectations this term, grabbing ten goals and two assists in 31 appearances for Kieran McKenna’s struggling side.

Ipswich are unlikely to retain Delap following their expected relegation, as he is attracting interest from several Big Six sides ahead of this summer.

Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are likely to be in the market for a new striker this summer, and Delap represents a cheaper solution with his reported £40m release clause.

The Red Devils are crying out for a new striker as Rasmus Hojlund and Joshuz Zirkzee have been heavily criticised for their poor performances this season.

Delap’s Premier League experience is a factor in his favour, with the potential alternatives including Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Osimhen, who are among the contenders to be this year’s leading scorer in Europe.

Regarding Delap, a report from The Daily Mail claims Man Utd have ‘internally stepped up’ with ‘one key advantage’ boosting Ruben Amorim’s side in a ‘five-way battle’.

‘Manchester United have held more discussions internally over a potential summer move for Ipswich striker Liam Delap.

‘United will face competition from a number of rivals including Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and his old club Manchester City who have a buyback option on the 22-year-old.’

‘One advantage in their favour is that technical director Jason Wilcox knows Delap well from his time at City’s academy.

‘A striker is one of United’s priorities in the transfer market this summer, and they will try to fund a deal by offloading Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.’

It is also claimed that a summer ‘swap deal’ involving Osimhen is ‘feasible’.

‘Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, is another striker on United’s radar and that could feasibly involve a swap deal involving Alejandro Garnacho who was linked with the Italian club in January.

‘Rashford has a £40m option in his loan deal at Aston Villa, and it’s understood he could join other clubs for a similar fee.

‘There is an obligation for Chelsea to turn Sancho’s loan into a permanent move worth between £22-25m, although Confidential revealed that the Londoners will face a financial penalty – since confirmed as £5m – if they break that agreement and sign another winger instead.’

Man Utd star backed to ‘become world’s best’ in his position as Amorim explains decision on ‘talented good boy’

Manchester United starlet Leny Yoro has backed one of his teammates to “become one of the world’s best strikers” following his breakout season.

The Red Devils have been woeful in attack this season, as they are 14th in our open-play Premier League table.

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have massively underperformed, while 17-year-old Chido Obi-Martin has broken into United’s first team.

The teenage forward left Arsenal to join Man Utd at the start of this season and has impressed in cameo appearances for Ruben Amorim’s side this term.

Obi-Martin has huge potential, and Yoro reckons he could “become one of the world’s best” in his position.

“Chido is talented. He can become one of the world’s best strikers in my opinion, if he continues his development,” Yoro said.

“He scores a lot of goals and is a good boy, so I also hope that he will become one of the best.

“He has had his chance in a few games, and I, of course, hope that he will soon open his goal account in the first team. That will help the team.”

Obi-Martin was not involved as Man Utd lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night as he lined up against Aston Villa in the semi-final of FA Youth Cup on Monday. Amorim explained this decision ahead of his side’s defeat at The City Ground.

“He is going to play [on Monday] because we try to imagine the next game and if you look before he was on the bench and just played against Fulham, but just 10 minutes at the end of the game, and we have to manage the minutes, we have to give the minute stop the kid,” Amorim said.

“So tomorrow I try to imagine the game, I imagine also it is really important for our young kids to feel the energy also of the game.

“It is really important for us, we are trying to win that competition, trying to build something with the youth, and the good thing with the academy players is they have that feeling of winning.

“So we are trying to to manage everything and Chido needs to play also, so we are helping the team and the player.”

Without Obi-Martin, Amorim played Harry Maguire as a makeshift striker as Man Utd were chasing the game.

Amorim used Maguire in this role because he is the “best player in the team” in one aspect.

“In the end of the game, when the opponent is protecting the box, they are comfortable,” Amorim said.

“We can reach the final third but we have to put the ball into the box, as it is hard to make the combinations. Harry Maguire, when he is attacking set pieces, is maybe the best player in the team.

“Inside the box, you are not a defender, you are a striker. Put one man who is really good in there to score the goal.”

Official: United confirm Marc Skinner has signed new two-year contract

Manchester United have confirmed that Marc Skinner has signed a new contract to remain in charge of the women’s team until the summer of 2027, with the option of an extra year.

Marc Skinner has signed a new contract with United, extending his tenure until June 2027, with the option of a further year 🤝

Congratulations, Marc! 🔴⚪️⚫️#MUWomen

— Manchester United Women (@ManUtdWomen) April 2, 2025

Skiner’s previous terms were set to expire at the end of this season.

He joined United in 2021 and led the Reds to their first major honour in women’s football with the 2024 FA Cup, after finishing runners-up the year before.

The 42-year-old has won 77 of his 119 games as United boss.

United are currently third in the Women’s Super League (WSL) and face Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals on April 13.

Reacting to his new deal, Skinner said, “It has been an absolute privilege to serve as head coach for this fantastic football club for the past four years, and I am delighted to be extending my time in the role for at least a further two years.”

“We are building a young, hungry team with the aim of challenging consistently for further trophies.”

“There is still more hard work ahead, including this season, but the players and staff have already shown their determination to succeed, and I am looking forward to us taking the next steps in our journey together.”

United’s technical director, Jason Wilcox, remarked, “Marc’s record since taking charge speaks for itself, having delivered our first major women’s silverware and firmly established us among the leading teams in the WSL.”

“After a major overhaul last summer, we have an exciting, developing squad ready to compete for further success, and we are convinced that Marc is the right coach to lead that process.”

United’s chief operating officer, Collette Roche, stated, “Building a successful and popular women’s team is an important part of our wider, football-first strategy for the club.”

“We appreciate the contribution that Marc has already made towards that goal, and we are delighted that he will continue to play a key role in the drive to put Manchester United at the forefront of growth in the women’s game.”

Ex-Man Utd coach reveals ‘personality and character issue’ with current star after transfer mistake

Former Man Utd coach Rene Meulensteen has revealed that Red Devils winger Alejandro Garnacho has “a personality and character issue”.

The Red Devils have been poor in the Premier League this season with Ruben Amorim’s side currently floundering in 13th place in the table.

Man Utd have struggled to score goals this season with only six clubs in the Premier League scoring fewer goals than the Red Devils.

Although Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have taken most of the flak as their primary position is a striker, Garnacho and other Man Utd attacking players also need to produce more.

Garnacho has provided four goals and one assist in the Premier League this term and there were reports that Napoli and Chelsea were interested in signing him in the January transfer window.

A move never materialised but there have been rumours recently that Man Utd will consider offers for the Argentina international as they attempt to raise funds for a summer rebuild.

Antony Elanga scored the only goal of the game as Nottingham Forest beat the Red Devils 1-0 at the City Ground and ex-Man Utd coach Meulensteen thinks the Forest star is a better suited to Old Trafford than Garnacho.

Meulensteen told Poker Firma: “I’ve never been sold on Alejandro Garnacho to be fairly honest. I think there’s a personality and character issue at times. Anthony Elanga on the other hand, his performance last night is exactly what you want to expect from a Manchester United winger – strong, direct, powerful, full of confidence and taking players on.

“I always thought Elanga showed those glimpses when he was playing for Man United, but the club closed the door on him and his career has restarted at a different club. You really have to question the decision-making process to let players like him go, because there’s been a few who have slipped through the fingers.”

Bruno Fernandes has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent days but Amorim dismissed the chance of him leaving in the summer transfer window.

But Meulensteen thinks the Man Utd captain “would fit like a glove” at the Bernabeu with Real Madrid likely to welcome a player with Fernandes’ passing range.

Meulensteen added: “I think people sometimes question the way Bruno Fernandes likes to get his feelings across. But one thing for me is certain – he’s an absolute winner. He plays all the games, he’s never injured, and he’s very committed to Manchester United and wants the best for the club.

“Every footballer has ambitions. I’m sure he wants to win trophies for Man United, but if a team like Real Madrid were to come knocking for him in the summer, he would fit like a glove there. Luka Modric is turning 40 soon and Madrid need someone in midfield with that kind of passing range who can supply Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe. With Bruno Fernandes’ passing range, Real Madrid would be unbelievable, and their forward line would become even better!”

Diogo Dalot identifies one huge silver lining for United after frustrating defeat to Forest

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has insisted that it’s evident he and his teammates are improving and heading in the right direction, despite the defeat to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening.

Former United forward Anthony Elanga scored the only goal of the contest to secure Forest all three points at the City Ground.

United controlled possession and created several chances but struggled to convert them. After the final whistle, Ruben Amorim attributed the defeat to his players’ lack of ruthlessness in front of goal.

Amorim also insisted that there were evident signs of improvement and this was echoed by Dalot.

Dalot spoke to MUTV and explained, “I think we did enough to win the game. We had very good moments, created a lot of chances, and I think enough chances to win this game.”

“It’s the price sometimes you pay in this type of level, in these types of competitions. Sometimes a little distraction, lack of focus, can be really decisive, and today it was.”

“Overall, I think we are improving. We are playing better, controlling more games in possession and without possession, so [that is] something positive that we can take for the coming games.”

He continued, “But in the end, we need to start being more consistent in terms of results and winning more games.”

“If we want to be competitive in the future, we have to start behaving like this and we have to perform like this. But these little bits will have to come first if you want to compete for the Premier League and the biggest titles, we have to start creating these habits and they try to be consistent on that, and then I think the results will come by themselves.”

“We still have to suffer a little bit, but in terms of getting out of this situation and trying to improve, I think we are on the right track.”

United are back in action on Sunday when they host cross-town rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford.

Looking ahead to the derby, Dalot emphasised that the only acceptable outcome is to win.
