United receive final answer on future of long-time Bayern midfield target – report

Manchester United have received a definite answer regarding the future of transfer target Leon Goretzka.

Last November, Goretzka emerged as a target for Man United, with manager Ruben Amorim seeking midfield reinforcements soon after starting his job at Old Trafford.

Transfer links between Goretzka and United were fuelled in the coming days, particularly when it was reported that Bayern had an “urgent” need to offload Goretzka so as to raise funds for its transfer budget.

This morning, however, it appears that United have received more concrete information on where they actually stand with regards to their approach to Goretzka.

“Leon Goretzka has every intention of fulfilling his contract with Bayern Munich,” Christian Falk reported on CF Bayern Insider. “Despite interest from the Premier League ahead of the summer transfer window, the German international doesn’t want to leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the season.”

“His current terms are set to expire in the summer of 2026, with the midfielder currently not keen on an early exit,” Falk explained.

“That remains the case even accounting for Manchester United’s ongoing and longstanding interest in Goretzka’s services. The Premier League giants were reportedly keen on snapping up the No.8 in the January transfer window. However, much as is the case at this point in time, the midfielder was not open to a mid-season exit.”

Despite this development, it appears that United are unwilling to give up on their pursuit of the Bayern midfielder.

“Still, United’s focus remains trained on Leon Goretzka in case the midfielder changes his mind ahead of the end of the season. The fact the 30-year-old recently moved to the ROOF agency, which is well-connected to the Premier League (serving clients like Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk), offers some encouragement,” Falk concluded.

According to the report, Falk is valued at £14.6m, making him a highly affordable option at central midfield for United.

What’s more, his transfer could become a necessity given that Christian Eriksen seems set to leave United at the end of the season.

Casemiro has also been tipped for a potential move this summer, deepening the need for more midfield signings.

Even if United do not ultimately sign Goretzka, it’s clear that further reinforcements are required at the club, particularly after what has been a disastrous season to date.

Zirkzee relieved to feel fans’ support

Joshua Zirkzee has thanked the Manchester United fans for helping him through a difficult period early in his Reds career.

The reaction at Old Trafford to his substitution during the home defeat to Newcastle United at the end of last year was a hard one for the Dutchman to take.

While he was a victim of circumstance, with the whole team performing poorly and trailing to two early goals by the Magpies, it must have been a test of character for the 23-year-old.

Thankfully, the away end at the very next match, away to Liverpool, made their feelings clear towards the summer signing, signing his name as he warmed up at Anfield.

In an exclusive interview with the latest edition of Inside United, conducted last month, Zirkzee outlined just how much the response meant to him at the time.

“Of course, it wasn’t the best period,” he conceded. “We all know what happened and for the fans to stand behind me, like they did back then, was maybe even a relief.

“For them to show that they’re not giving up on me. To just show that they’re still behind me. As I said before, it just motivates you a lot. It motivates you.

“I think we’ve seen, against Real Sociedad, when we got 1-0 behind, the fans just kept going. That atmosphere that they can create, it’s something you won’t find anywhere else on this planet. It’s amazing what people on the outside of the pitch can do for the people on the pitch as well.”

Obviously, our latest meeting with the Magpies was also an unhappy one for the striker, as he was forced to leave the field during the second half with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Ruben Amorim confirmed afterwards to MUTV that he expects the Netherlands international to “miss some games” and it does seem almost certain that he will miss the key second leg of the Europa League quarter-final with Lyon, after scoring in France.

We are awaiting more details but wish Josh a speedy recovery.

Man Utd news: Flop striker survives with team-mate brutally sold after ‘re-evaluation’ of attack

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has reportedly ‘re-evaluated’ his attacking options, and has decided to ‘keep’ one striker and ‘listen to offers’ for another.

Amorim’s striker options have offered very little this season. It says something that Marcus Rashford, having not played at United since December, currently being out on loan at Aston Villa, is still the fourth-top scorer in the Premier League for the Red Devils.

Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo are the only United players to have passed five Premier League goals this term.

Strikers Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, having played 32 and 27 league games respectively, have three goals each. Those numbers are far below what’s expected of £36.5million and £72million players.

There’s been speculation around both being sold in the summer. It was suggested not long after he signed in the summer that Zirkzee was not cutting it and would be allowed to leave, while it’s been reported often that Hojlund will be let go.

But according to GIVEMESPORT, only one of those players will actually be shown the door. They state that Amorim, having ‘re-evaluated’ his attacking options, has decided to ‘keep’ Zirkzee and ‘listen to offers’ for Hojlund.

It’s believed that the former, who has seven goals in all competitions this season, is in line to remain as there’s ‘faith that he will keep improving’.

Hojlund, having been at the club a year longer, has ‘not lived up to his price tag’ since his arrival, so United are ‘increasingly open’ to cash in, as he’s ‘unable to give indications that he is developing his game’.

It seems unlikely that the Red Devils will receive close to the £72million fee that Hojlund cost when he was signed from Atalanta in 2023, but there is interest reported in him.

Indeed, he has been linked with Napoli, who may look to sign him if they know they’ll get a good deal for the forward.

Troy Deeney has recently blasted the Dane, stating: “Based on what I saw from Hojlund against Lyon, I may as well get fit. No joke, he was awful.

“He looked confused, he looked lost. His skill-set is running behind and getting pot-shots off as quick as he can. He ran to players, he was marking himself as opposed to a defender marking him.

“As a striker, we’re always told if a striker can touch you and feel you, then you’re in the wrong position. He was running to the defender.

“I just think based on that, he was awful. The thing is, you can have off days in terms of scoring and have a low year.

“But he was getting bullied. It looks like the pressure is getting to him. So he will have to have an unbelievable pre-season to stay there.”

Now, that ship seems to have sailed.

Man Utd prepare £51.5m Real Madrid raid to derail Liverpool transfer and ‘rejuvenate’ side

Manchester United are reportedly ‘willing’ to lodge a £51.5million bid to secure the transfer or Real Madrid star Arda Guler, derailing a Liverpool plot for him.

United have struggled for the past couple of seasons. Last term, they came eighth in the Premier League, and things have been worse this term, with new manager Ruben Amorim’s system taking some adapting to.

Currently, United are 14th in the Premier League, and will be looking to make vast improvements over the summer transfer window to ensure they can turn things around next season.

Fichajes reports that the Red Devils want to ‘rejuvenate’ their squad, and believe Real Madrid midfielder Guler could ‘thrive’ for them. As such, United are ‘willing’ to bid €60million (£51.5m approx) for the Turkish international.

Opportunities have been few and far between for Guler at Real this season, where he’s started just 12 games. There is a reported acceptance in Spain that he may ‘need to leave’ the Bernabeu to ‘reach his full potential’.

It has been suggested that Guler is not happy with working under Carlo Ancelotti, and the report states if the manager stays, the attacker’s departure ‘seems quite likely’. But the chances of him staying if Xabi Alonso joins the club will reportedly increase.

In any case, United are ‘closely monitoring’ Real’s movements, and are ‘waiting for the right moment to launch their offensive’.

If Amorim’s side were to succeed in landing Guler, they’d derail a Liverpool transfer. It’s been reported that Real want to sign Alexis Mac Allister, and Guler would be used as a ‘bargaining chip’ in that deal.

It’s not clear if the Reds would have been open to that, as Mac Allister has been a quality asset for them since joining from Brighton, but Real would seemingly not want to let Guler go elsewhere if they think there’s a chance he can help them get the star.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the Turkish international, and recent reports have suggested if he is to be sold by Real, he’ll cost £30-40million. If United were to pay the quoted £51.5million, they’d likely be ahead of other clubs in the race, given they’d be paying over the odds for Guler.

Whether that does in fact happen remains to be seen, though, as the validity of the report could be questioned.

Hojlund exit on the table as United move for electrifying Juventus forward – report

Juventus are reportedly eyeing a move for striker Rasmus Hojlund, while Manchester United continue to track their exciting Turkish talent Kenan Yildiz.

The Red Devils are expected to be active in the upcoming transfer window, with a focus on fine-tuning their attack after a turbulent campaign.

According to calciomercato, Juventus are closely monitoring Hojlund’s situation at Old Trafford and could attempt to lure the Dane back to Serie A.

Hojlund arrived from Atalanta last summer for a fee of €70 million and, while flashes of brilliance have emerged, he has struggled to find consistent form in a misfiring United side.

With 24 goals in 82 appearances, his potential is clear—but so too is the uncertainty surrounding his long-term role.

Juventus are looking to rebuild their forward line, with Dusan Vlahovic yet to renew and both Randal Kolo Muani and Arek Milik likely to depart. Hojlund, still only twenty-one, fits the profile of the dynamic, long-term option they’re seeking.

However, any deal involving Hojlund may not be one-way traffic.

United are among a host of Premier League clubs reportedly keeping tabs on Juventus starlet Kenan Yildiz.

The nineteen-year-old has flourished under new manager Igor Tudor, becoming a central figure in the Turin club’s push for Champions League qualification.

Yildiz has already netted twice under Tudor and is being tipped as the future of the club.

Awarded the number ten shirt, the Turkish international has become a symbol of the Bianconeri’s new era. But should Juventus fail to secure a Champions League spot, keeping hold of him could prove difficult.

He is one of the youngest players in Europe to have scored more than five goals this season.

The possibility of a swap deal concerning Hojlund and Yildiz remains speculative but increasingly plausible.

The outcome could hinge on whether either club makes it into next season’s Champions League.

While United remain committed to Hojlund’s development, an enticing offer from Juventus could force a re-evaluation, especially if it facilitates a move for Yildiz or funds a larger summer reshuffle.

United poised to swap top star for prime PL playmaker in “audacious part-exchange deal”

Manchester United appear to be nearing a sensational swap deal in which they could offload an unwanted star in exchange for a top transfer target.

Following his strained relations with former Man United manager Erik ten Hag and the locker room drama that ensued, Rashford was quickly disposed of by new manager Ruben Amorim, who didn’t seem to see a place for the Englishman in his new setup.

Since beginning his loan at Aston Villa in January, Rashford appears to have revitalised his career, clearly improving his form.

As a result, numerous clubs have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Rashford on a permanent deal, with Crystal Palace allegedly coming to the table, as noted by The Peoples Person.

What may give Palace an edge in the race to sign Rashford is a valuable bargaining chip that United may greatly appreciate.

“As Amorim seeks to do away with attackers who do not fit into his 3-4-3 system – such as Rashford – the United boss has allegedly identified Palace’s Eberechi Eze as a ‘serious’ target for the summer window,” Sports Mole explained.

“With Palace keen on Rashford and United keen on Eze, the door could swing open for an audacious part-exchange deal this summer, which would hugely benefit Man United in their current financial state.”

“The Red Devils may have to pay around £20m on top of Rashford given that Palace apparently value Eze at around £60m, but if the Eagles resign themselves to losing the playmaker, that transaction is one where everyone wins,” the report read.

“However, Man United could be forced to fend off interest from Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur to win the race for Eze, and the Citizens’ greater chance of securing Champions League football next term could put them at the head of the queue,” the article concluded, thereby acknowledging the one issue that could stand in the way of a potentially game changing swap deal.

In addition to being viewed as a player who could fit in well with Amorim’s playing style, Eze has proven to be a highly capable player given his performances for Palace.

Last season, Eze burst onto the scene with 11 goals and four assists in 27 Premier League matches. While only scoring three goals this season, Eze has already managed to provide eight assists in the league. He was particularly impactful in Palace’s League Cup campaign this season, scoring twice and providing three assists in just four games. (Sofascore)

Ultimately, a swap deal would be a massive win for United – not only would they be able to offload a problematic player, but they would receive a potentially highly beneficial star in return.

Manchester United Women’s big derby date at Old Trafford against Man City has been confirmed.

Marc Skinner’s Adobe FA Cup finalists will meet the Blues on Sunday 4 May, with the special occasion kicking off at 12:00 BST.

Tickets are still available for the contest, a repeat of the semi-final clash at the weekend, which we won 2-0, courtesy of goals from Celin Bizet and Grace Clinton, at the Joie Stadium.

United are currently third in the WSL table, level on points with second-placed Arsenal and six adrift of leaders Chelsea.

With the Champions League push very much on for Skinner’s side, this is a key fixture against City, who are currently in fourth, with a gap of seven points between the two Manchester clubs.

United won the reverse fixture 4-2 in January, with Ella Toone grabbing a memorable hat-trick and Leah Galton also on the scoresheet.

However, the Blues did come out on top with an away victory in the following match, in the Women’s League Cup, at Leigh Sports Village.

Hopefully, there will be a bumper crowd to cheer the Reds on during the Bank Holiday weekend – make sure you’re part of it!

Tickets start from as little as £7.50.

Video: Hat-trick of former Red Devils’ goals rubs even more salt into United fans’ wounds

Former Manchester United duo Scott McTominay and Lukaku starred for SSC Napoli as they beat Empoli 3-0 to keep up their charge for the Serie A title.

Lukaku left the Red Devils in 2019 but McTominay was only sold last summer. They were briefly teammates at Old Trafford during Jose Mourinho’s time as manager of the club and the beginning of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure.

Both players have contributed much to Napoli’s fine season but it has been McTominay who has been a revelation during his brief time in Italy.

The Scot was on song last night as he scored a brace and Lukaku bagged the other. The big Belgian also added two assists to his impressive figures this season.

Lukaku held the ball up well on the wing and laid the ball off to McTominay in the centre of the pitch, who drove through the heart of the Empoli defence and launched an unstoppable drive into the bottom corner of their goal on 17 minutes.

It was his first strike in six league games for the Italians.

After 56 minutes Lukaku slotted in Napoli’s second after being well found in the box.

The former Red Devils were not done yet though, as after 61 minutes Lukaku crossed the ball for the former United academy graduate who skilfully headed the ball into the net via the underside of the crossbar.

The brace now means that McTominay has scored nine goals in 33 appearances this season.

His eight league goals draw him level with Bruno Fernandes’ league total for United this season.

Lukaku has also contributed 12 goals and 11 assists this year in all competitions.

The Scottish international’s form has left many fans pondering whether in fact United made the right decision to sell him last summer. No midfielder has stepped up in his absence as Ruben Amorim’s side continue to struggle in front of goal.

“Twisted”: brutal United fake news campaign runs riot in wake of Newcastle defeat, even club news site joins in

Manchester United fans have had to tolerate a lot this season. They lie 14th in the Premier League and the Europa League is the club’s only potential saving grace this season.

For years United dominated the English game in the 1990s and 2000s, so their downfall will naturally be enjoyed by a variety of fans who saw their sides beaten time and time again by Sir Alex Ferguson’s relentless Red Devils.

Nonetheless, fans would expect that analysis of the club’s significant issues may be treated with more care by certain sections of the mainstream media.

The Red Devils are one of the biggest names in sport, never mind football, so people will always be hungry to create content but there comes a time when the quality of this needs to be put under the microscope.

A classic example came yesterday when it was reported by so-called “United insider” SullyTalkz that United manager Ruben Amorim was so furious at his United players for a 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday that he cancelled a meet and greet with fans to lay into his players instead.

Ruben Amorim was fuming this morning and rightfully so. Meet and greet with kids cancelled, emergency first team meeting, players getting a huge bollocking. No one dared to speak

Message was clear. : Have until the end of the season to fix up or your out! pic.twitter.com/xRha1oZiZv

— Sully (@SullyTalkz) April 14, 2025

The story was even promulgated by a United news site this morning, despite the fact that just hours after the poisonous post, images had appeared online of Amorim professionally meeting and smiling with the same said school children he was supposed to have cancelled for the emergency meeting.

https://t.co/nu4wnYMz0z pic.twitter.com/NwNe9VHY2w

— United Peoples TV (@UnitedPeoplesTV) April 14, 2025

The mainstream media also can’t resist kicking United when they are down and Thierry Henry’s analysis of Leny Yoro after Newcastle’s third goal against United on Sunday is a good example.

The former Arsenal player seemed to unnecessarily highlight and ridicule Yoro’s reaction to the goal, as he instinctively looked over at the linesman.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Henry stated, “I invite everyone to stay on Leny Yoro. First and foremost, he’s going to try to play offside. It’s a great finish from Barnes but please stay on Yoro and what he’s asking for… pause. I don’t know what he’s looking at. What are you looking at?”

“Are you looking at the linesman to try to see if he’s going to bail you out? I don’t know. I don’t know if he thought there was an offside, I don’t know. We all know it’s a goal! What are you looking at?! I actually don’t know. I’ve never seen that before.”

The analysis seemed harsh on a 19 year old who wasn’t that involved in the goal and the criticism will especially sting coming from a French legend who Yoro most likely looks up to immensely.

Express journalist Alex Turk posted on X in response, “the thoughtless, twisted content of this clip and the fact a national broadcaster is using it with a laughing emoji once again confirms what we all already know about the relentless coverage of United in this country.”

The thoughtless, twisted content of this clip and the fact a national broadcaster is using it with a laughing emoji once again confirms what we all already know about the relentless coverage of United in this country. https://t.co/7vb5WO9w6N

— Alex Turk (@AlexCTurk) April 14, 2025

In addition, United focused account, The Muppetiers, responded in anger, highlighting that Yoro had just put in a sensational performance for the Red Devils with little coverage in comparison to the barrage of negative abuse he faced for Sunday’s performance.

Leny had one of the best games of his young career Thursday, away, against a tough team in a big European tournament. It gets a minuscule amount of coverage compared to negativity spouted toward him by pundits after Sunday. Don’t accept it or let em get away with it.

— UnitedMuppetiers (@Muppetiers) April 14, 2025

It must be noted that the post has since been deleted by Sky Sports, possibly highlighting the fact they realised the errors of their ways.

United fans know that there is a lot that needs to be corrected at the club, but they also should be aware of certain media and social media accounts who are not interested in the truth but only the stirring up of toxicity against a club they cannot possibly cover objectively.

Man Utd: Red Devils star who Amorim ‘wants out’ is ‘offered escape route’ after ‘shock’ wage cut

Man Utd goalkeeper Andre Onana is ‘set to be offered an escape route’ away from Old Trafford in the summer, according to reports.

The Red Devils are having a terrible season with the current squad set to go down as the worst Man Utd side in the Premier League era.

Their 4-1 loss to Newcastle on Sunday was their 14th of the season and saw Man Utd drop below Everton into 14th in the Premier League table.

One player who has taken a lot of stick in recent months is Onana with the Cameroon goalkeeper making a number of high-profile errors.

Onana was partly to blame for both their goals against Lyon in a 2-2 draw against the French side in their Europa League quarter-final first leg last Thursday.

And Man Utd boss Amorim made the decision to drop him from his squad to face Newcastle in order to “disconnect” and hopefully come back firing.

READ: Mailbox: Thierry Henry ‘bullied’ Man Utd kid in ’embarrassing’ Sky Sports segment

There have previously been rumours that Amorim ‘wants’ Onana ‘out’ of Old Trafford in the summer and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano insists his situation at Man Utd is definitely “one to watch” in the summer.

Romano said on his YouTube channel: “For Onana in general, the situation can be one to watch in the summer transfer window because I told you in January that Onana signed with a new agent. The agent is Fali Ramadani, Lian Sports, so he decided to trust Ramadani to take care of his future in January.

“There is interest from the Saudi Pro League since he was at Inter, but he preferred a move to Man Utd. He had this dream to play for Manchester Man Utd. Now I can say that the interest from the Saudi Pro League is still there for Onana. So there is still strong interest.”

The Athletic‘s David Ornstein also gave his thoughts on Onana after Amorim dropped the Cameroon international, he told NBC Sports: “It does raise questions about the future of Onana. He joined for £47.2 million in the summer of 2023, signing a five-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.

“Unless somebody came in with huge money for him, the hopes of United selling him for a profit are almost non-existent, and that would mean a PSR – Profitability and Sustainability – loss, which could rule out the possibility of selling him.

“He has switched agents in recent months. That was meant for a new contract to improve terms, but he may not have to look at trying to shift his player. And this would not have been expected for Manchester United. It wasn’t on the agenda, another goalkeeper.”

And now The Sun claims that Onana is ‘set to be offered an escape route from Manchester United by clubs in Saudi Arabia’ but the Red Devils could still struggle to move him on.

The report also adds that Onana is ‘not looking to quit Amorim’s strugglers right now and plans to prove the critics wrong and re-establish himself’.

But The Athletic revealed earlier on Tuesday that Onana was ‘shocked’ by the pay cut he had to take when Man Utd failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Speaking of switching agents, The Athletic reports:

‘The primary purpose of the switch was to get a fresh outlook and possibly, in time, negotiate a new contract. Onana’s current terms include the squad-wide pay cut for non-qualification to the Champions League, which is a standard 25 per cent but can be negotiated individually.

‘Onana expected United to compete in the Champions League, though, and the financial drop came as a shock to the system when activated last summer. Onana had a conversation on the matter with sporting director Dan Ashworth.’
