From Italy: United plotting spectacular double raid on Serie A side, “lethal” marksman and “relentless” monster on the agenda

Manchester United need reinforcements all across the pitch but Ruben Amorim will be forced to prioritise certain positions due to the club’s current financial situation.

Which is why Andre Onana’s future is secure for the moment with the head coach wanting a striker and midfielder urgently.

Rasmus Hojlund has proven to be a disastrous signing and INEOS want him gone in the summer, even if it is on loan, while Christian Eriksen and Casemiro could both leave at the conclusion of the current campaign.

Multiple reports have suggested the Red Devils are inching closer to a deal for Victor Osimhen while a potential agreement for Matheus Cunha is also close.

United want a Striker and midfielder

Tutto Atalanta have now claimed that the 20-time English league champions undertook a scouting trip to watch Atalanta hotshot Mateo Retegui in action.

The “lethal” Italian has a stunning 26 goals in all competitions this season as well as six assists, all from only 2,730 minutes, which roughly amounts to a goal involvement every 85 minutes.

Not only the striker, but the Old Trafford side are also interested in Atalanta’s “relentless” midfield dynamo Ederson. In fact, the Brazilian scored the winning goal in front of the United scouts.

As per the Italian media outlet, United have not only been scouting the duo but have also touched base with their respective agents regarding a possible summer move.

Preliminary discussions have been ongoing for sometime now and signing both would represent a massive power move from INEOS, which would certainly send quite the message to clubs across Europe.

Retegui and Ederson on United’s radar

“Atalanta conquered San Siro, and in the meantime Manchester United’s eyes were on its most precious jewels. Not only a very important victory against Milan for the race for the Champions League, but also an evening that could open important scenarios for Ederson and Mateo Retegui, with special observers of the Red Devils emissaries present in the stands.

“The English club’s interest is not limited to simple monitoring, but has already led to concrete contacts with the players’ respective agents.

“According to sources close to the English club, preliminary discussions with Ederson and Retegui ‘s entourages have already been underway for weeks. A clear and decisive move by United, intent on rejuvenating and strengthening the team for the near future.”

Atalanta and United share a cordial relation and have conducted plenty of deals in the recent past. The Serie A side are known to drive a hard bargain, however, and whether United can afford both in the same window remains to be seen.

While the Italy international has a market value of €45 million, the Brazilian is expected to cost €60 million.

Is United v Leeds one of the most entertaining Premier League fixtures? These matches were amazing…

INEOS rejoice as United secure crucial financial boost thanks to club’s bitter rivals – report

Manchester United are set to benefit from an unexpected financial boost courtesy of an unlikely source – bitter rivals, Leeds United.

Leeds confirmed their re-entry to the Premier League next season after clinching promotion from the Championship with their emphatic 6-0 win over Stoke City at Elland Road last night.

The three points pushed the Yorkshire side top of England’s second division on goal difference, ahead of Burnley. But, more crucially, it puts Daniel Farke’s side eight clear of Sheffield United in third place, with two games of the season remaining, therefore guaranteeing a top two finish and automatic promotion, alongside Burnley.

However, Leeds had been set to receive a payment of £16 million from the Premier League’s parachute payment structure for relegated sides after the Peacocks were demoted into the Championship two seasons ago.

Instead, owing to their promotion back into England’s elite, this money will be reallocated evenly across the existing Premier League teams, including United.

And when this is combined with the saving from Burnley’s ascension back into the league – worth £31 million in avoided parachute payments at Turf Moor – it amounts to a total a saving of £51 million for Premier League clubs.

Leeds and Burnley will “instead now pick up more than £110m thanks to the television and prize money deals”, according to the Daily Mirror.

Therefore, the Red Devils will benefit from a windfall due, in part, to the efforts of their historical rivals at Elland Road. And with the current financial situation at United a precarious one, as a result of years of reckless spending under the inept hands of the Glazer family, this constitutes a welcome boost ahead of a vital summer for the Mancunian club.

INEOS, who gained full control over the football operation at Old Trafford last year, have implemented a series of brutal cost-cutting measures over the past twelve months, designed to improve a situation Sir Jim Ratcliffe described in cataclysmic terms.

“Manchester United would have run out of cash by the end of this year – by the end of 2025 – after having me put $300m (£232.72m) in and if we buy no new players in the summer,” United’s new co-owner revealed in March.

Therefore, while the total sum derived from Leeds and Burnley’s promotions will be small, every penny counts for United with Ruben Amorim’s squad in desperate need of a comprehensive overhaul this summer.

The fact that this budget will be boosted, however modestly, by the efforts of the club’s hated rival should make each one of their pennies an even sweeter cherry for the Reds’ fanbase.

Man Utd wonderkids ‘both targets for Chelsea’ as Ratcliffe seeks ‘the most PSR profit’

Chelsea are interested in signing Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United this summer, according to reports.

Both players emerged as transfer targets for the Blues in the January transfer window; however, a deal for either failed to materialise.

Many Man United fans were left aghast at news the club were open to selling academy graduate Mainoo, while others were more open to seeing Garnacho leave.

The latter can leave the Red Devils for ‘pure profit’, which is a godsend for clubs walking a Profit and Sustainability tightrope.

Ruben Amorim’s side are doing just that and will need a summer of significant first-team sales if the Portuguese head coach is to land his top transfer targets.

Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap is reportedly Amorim’s ‘No. 1 target’, while Wolves’ Matheus Cunha is also a player of serious interest.

Signing both players would cost at least £92.5million and even with the potential extra £100m from winning the Europa League, player sales will be necessary.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has ruffled plenty of feathers since buying 25 per cent of the club, and selling Mainoo could be the final straw for some fans.

Regardless of fan opinion, Ratcliffe’s side ‘are open to offers for a number of players’ this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

To raise funds, Man United want to sell Antony, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford – who are all out on loan.

Meanwhile, Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund are possible departures.

The report adds that Mainoo and Garnacho are ‘both targets for Chelsea‘ and the Red Devils are unlikely to reject significant bids for them considering they ‘would make the most PSR profit’.

It is claimed:

The club will have more room for manoeuvre if they hit the £100m jackpot by winning the Europa League, securing a place in next season’s Champions League. But with the Europa League final not until May 21, United will continue to prioritise the Cunha and Delap deals in time for June 1. The window will close on June 10 and then re-open from June 16 to September 1.

Garnacho also has interest from abroad, with Serie A giants Napoli still keen after attempting to sign him in January.

United are interested in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen but will not agree a deal including the Argentine winger as he can ‘generate 100 per cent profit as a homegrown player’.

Interestingly, the report claims £70m flop Hojlund could be used in a deal for Osimhen and that United ‘could be persuaded’ to send the ex-Atalanta striker back to Italy.

Elite Premier League forward “very positive” about joining Man United after new meeting – Fabrizio Romano

Manchester United’s hopes of landing Matheus Cunha from Wolves are high after Sunday’s meeting between the two teams.

Yesterday, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano posted that personal terms are being discussed ahead of a potential £62.5 million transfer.

Romano has issued a further update this morning, stating that:

“The feeling between player side and club side on new meeting was very positive, after project explained and terms discussed.

“More meetings will be needed but Man United feel they’re leading the race for Cunha, as reported yesterday.”

Meanwhile, a United insider account @UnitedSc0ut claims that Cunha’s whole family came to Old Trafford to watch the match between the two teams.

“On Sunday for #MUFC vs Wolves, a number of Matheus Cunha’s family and agent were in attendance,” the insider posted.

“Including his wife, son, father and auntie. After the match concluded, Carlos Fernandes had a conversation with Cunha’s dad and Wife.”

The post included a photo of Cunha’s father and son posing, thumbs up, for a phot outside Old Trafford.

The signs certainly look good for the transfer. The player’s own actions before the game – wiping the turf on himself during the warm-up and waving to the United fans – certainly seemed to indicate that the player has affection for the Red Devils. United head coach Ruben Amorim was also spotted patting Cunha on the back.

Reporter Ben Jacobs points out that a deal is far from done yet. “Worth noting, Manchester United’s Cunha meeting was purely a project and football pitch at this stage,” he noted.

“United view Cunha as a ten. Parties have not yet discussed financials, and Wolves are yet to receive a formal approach.” However, he also confirms that the player wants to join United regardless of whether they qualify for the Champions League next season.

Capturing the 25 year old’s signature would be a dream start to United’s summer transfer window. A Premier League proven player capable of scoring goals and perfect for the twin 10 role favoured by Amorim, Cunha would be a missive upgrade on United’s current options in the position.

United loanee takes one step closer to Old Trafford exit after unique clause is triggered, INEOS will be ecstatic

Chelsea’s clause to permanently sign Jadon Sancho has been officially activated as they can now no longer finish below 14th in the Premier League.

After falling out with former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag in September 2023, Sancho shockingly returned to pre-season training in 2024.

Nonetheless, he eventually went out on loan to Chelsea at the end of the summer window after spending the second half of the 2023/24 season at Borussia Dortmund in a similar deal.

The loan move agreed between the two clubs stated that Chelsea had an obligation to buy him if they finished 14th or higher in the league.

The 2-1 victory over London rivals Fulham confirmed this on Sunday according to The Sun newspaper.

The outlet reports that “Chelsea’s obligation to buy clause for Jadon Sancho has officially been triggered.”

The price of the deal is worth between £20 and £25 million, depending on Chelsea’s final league position, but there is still uncertainty to whether the Blues will go through with the signing or not.

Despite the fact it is an obligation to buy, it has been reliably reported that Chelsea have the option to get out of the deal as long as they pay £5 million in compensation.

The Blues’ boss, Enzo Maresca, has suggested he is very happy with Sancho’s impact and wants to keep him but there has been no official confirmation by the club on what their intentions are for him.

It has been reported that the “club chiefs will save their final decision on Sancho’s future until the end of the campaign.”

Sancho initially impressed at Chelsea but went on a lengthy 16 league game goal drought, which he ended against Ipswich Town. He has recently impressed in Chelsea’s run to the semi-final of the Conference League, however.

What seems clear is that Sancho has no future at Old Trafford as SS Lazio, AS Roma and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with a move for him should Chelsea pull out of the deal.

“He turned up”: Rio Ferdinand believes United’s comeback king will be key to winning the Europa League

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has backed midfielder Casemiro to play a big part in the Red Devils’ hopes of winning the Europa League.

Ruben Amorim’s side secured their semi-final spot with a stunning late 5-4 victory over Olympique Lyonnais last week.

The Brazilian massively struggled last season as pundit Jamie Carragher claimed that he could no longer compete at the highest level.

The midfielder also struggled to originally get into Ruben Amorim’s first choice eleven when he joined the team in the winter but he has fought back to become a key member of the squad in recent times.

Casemiro has started big games recently alongside Manuel Ugarte and he was rested in United’s 0-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, ahead of the semi-final clash with Athletic Club.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand Presents, the former defender lauded the recent influence Casemiro has had on the team.

Praising his performance in the Europa League quarter-final he stated, “when the chips were down against Lyon, he turned up. He assisted the last two goals and won a penalty. That is not his game, by the way.”

“There is a moment in some games where it is down to only certain players. He is one of them right now at Man United. Casemiro has the experience and quality.”

Ferdinand did admit that the Brazil international originally struggled to find a role in Amorim’s system but now he has a much greater understanding of his position in the 3-4-3.

“I think there are some players, when they grow older, who need the system and team. I think they found that way of playing with him. The spaces are not as big as they looked earlier in the season.”

Ferdinand also stated that his experience in such a youthful team could also be highly beneficial in United’s pursuit of silverware.

He predicted that Casemiro is now using his experience to know when to commit himself and when to hold his position, which he struggled to do under Erik ten Hag last season.

“He has probably seen these moments for many years, and those little details will come up and pay trumps in big moments.”

Amorim will also be hoping Casemiro’s significant experience of playing Spanish teams during his time at Real Madrid will help against Athletic Club in May.

United’s rival launches blockbuster raid for 58 G/A monster in “new twist”, Amorim will be devastated – report

Arsenal are moving fast to secure the signing of Manchester United target Viktor Gyokeres.

The Red Devils have made signing a new striker a major priority this summer after struggling immensely in front of goal. They have staggeringly only scored 38 goals in 33 matches and have a goal difference of minus eight in the Premier League.

Consequently, Ruben Amorim’s side have been linked with numerous attackers such as Victor Osimhen, Benjamin Sesko and Liam Delap.

Nonetheless, one of the first names to be linked to United was Gyokeres, as he worked with Amorim at Sporting CP.

However, there have been reports suggesting the striker has already rejected the Red Devils and would prefer a move to other Premier League teams.

Football Insider now report that Arsenal have opened talks to sign Gyokeres in an early deal this summer. The Gunners’ new sporting director Andrea Berta is “a big fan” of the Swedish international and wants to secure a deal as swiftly as possible.

The website claims, “negotiations are taking place behind the scenes to convince the striker and put together a package to secure his signature.”

“In a new twist,” Gyokeres is now viewed as the “first-choice” target at the Emirates, after previous links to other United targets Osimhen and Sesko.

Mikel Arteta feels that an elite number nine could make the difference after another year of falling short in the Premier League title race.

The Swede has been in unstoppable form this season, firing in 47 goals in 46 games. He has also added 11 assists.

The striker has previous experience in England when he played for Coventry City in the Championship between 2020 and 2023.
