BACK David Tully Jan 23rd 2026 Man Utd are not trying to sign Chelsea attacking midfielder Cole Palmer, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. Speaking to The United Stand YouTube channel, Jacobs said there is no basis to speculation that the Red Devils could make a move for the England international: “I am not aware of Manchester United trying for Cole Palmer. It’s clear he loved living in Manchester but it’s unclear if there has been a turning point in London where he is now unhappy.” “Chelsea don’t want to sell, so it feels like a nonstarter and I’d be surprised if United made a move for another 10 following Mbeumo and Cunha signings.” Where have the Palmer links come from? English tabloid The Sun published an article on Tuesday where they claimed that the 23-year-old is not happy living in London. He is said to be missing his friends in Manchester. Ironically, though, they suggested that Palmer could be “tempted” by a move back to Manchester City. There was no mention of United. Another publication, though, decided to write a VERY speculative comment piece saying that the Red Devils should consider making a bid for the player. Man Utd could splash out on another England midfielder While there is no interest in Palmer, his international teammate Elliot Anderson IS very much on the club’s radar. Competition for the 23-year-old is likely to be fierce, and Forest’s current asking price is said to be in excess of £100m, although some (including Jacobs) feel that the Tricky Trees will ultimately decide to sell him for a lower fee. No approach for Anderson is expected this month, but he is one of the top targets for United ahead of the summer transfer window. It is a story to keep a close eye on. Want more news on Man Utd?
