Barcelona are already keen to make Marcus Rashford’s transfer permanent at the end of the season, but for less than what Manchester United want.
The forward has enjoyed a stellar start to his Barcelona tenure since swapping England for Spain back in July.
It’s the first-ever time Rashford has played outside of his home country in his career, having represented the Red Devils since he was seven years old and spent half a campaign on loan with Aston Villa from January to June this year. As such, the Camp Nou faithful were unsure how he would fare in such a different environment.

Now six games into his loan spell, it looks as though the 27-year-old has taken to his new surroundings like a duck to water, registering two goals and one assist in all competitions thus far.
Last week, he claimed all the headlines after he notched a brace to secure a much-needed victory at St. James’ Park in Barcelona’s Champions League opener. Both goals were impressive, but the second was nothing short of scintillating, making it no surprise that Anthony Gordon conceded that Rashford’s display was ‘unbelievable’ post-match.
Hopeful that he will continue such form throughout the term, the key decision-makers in Catalonia have begun pondering how they can add the Three Lions international to Hansi Flick’s ranks permanently.
United to cheekily try and increase Rashford price tag
According to Manchester Evening News, they want to sign him in a cut-price deal worth £25 million; Rashford’s buy option is believed to be in the region of £26 million, which should, in theory, make the transaction straightforward.
However, MEN’s report claims United want to increase their asking price to £40m amid the player’s revitalised performances.
Rashford is contracted to his boyhood club until 2028, so INEOS potentially hold the power to rescind the current buy clause and replace it with a higher sum. Of course, such a farce may deter Barcelona from doing any business at all.
