Atletico Madrid plotting shock move for United star, ready to pay €5m fee – report

Jadon Sancho continues to be a major cause of headache at Manchester United.

United are currently in serious talks with Chelsea over a deal for Alejandro Garnacho, as the Blues are pushing to sign the Argentine to strengthen their left flank.

Last season, Sancho was one of their main left-wingers. However, Chelsea sent him back to United after the Englishman decided against lowering his wage demands.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Juventus have convinced Sancho to move to Turin, having reached “an agreement in principle” with the 25-year-old.

However, Juve are struggling to finalise his transfer, as they need to offload one of their attackers to make space for Sancho. Amid this, a Spanish outfit have joined the race for his services.

Atletico keen on Sancho loan deal

According to German publication SPORT1, Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Sancho.

It is understood the winger is “open to a move” to the Spanish capital.

Atletico would reportedly be willing to sign Sancho on a temporary basis. They are prepared to pay a €5m fee for a season-long loan. To facilitate this transfer, the United flop would accept a pay cut.

Initially, United only wanted a permanent sale, as Sancho has less than 12 months remaining on his deal. Now, they are “forced” to change their stance, seemingly due to Sancho’s relatively underwhelming reputation.

Sancho is one of the club’s highest-paid players and clearing his salary off the wage bill could free up some additional funds.

Dortmund monitoring Sancho

Meanwhile, the German outlet adds that Borussia Dortmund are also following their former player.

The Bundesliga outfit prefer to sign Sancho on loan as well, and are open to waiting until the final days of the window to test United’s resolve.

However, Dortmund’s head coach Niko Kovac is not convinced that Sancho is a right fit for his setup.
