Antony’s agent hints at major U-turn regarding his future as deadlock with Real Betis continues – Sky

Manchester United’s need for midfield reinforcements have meant INEOS have been forced to focus on player sales at the moment.

Having already spent around €229 million on Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha, INEOS need to move on members of the “bomb squad” if they are to afford Carlos Baleba of Brighton and Hove Albion.

Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, and Rasmus Hojlund are all expected to depart this window, with Marcus Rashford sealing a loan to Barcelona.

Antony was expected to be among the first to depart, owing to Real Betis’ interest in the Brazilian, following his heroics on loan last term.

Real Betis-United deadlock

In only 26 games across all competitions, the 25-year-old registered as many assists (five) as he had managed in two-and-half seasons at Old Trafford.

Not only that, but he also found the back of the net nine times, just three short of the tally he had notched at United. He single-handedly took the La Liga side all the way to the UEFA Conference League final.

However, the Spanish side have made it clear that they cannot afford United’s asking price and are once again asking for a loan. The Red Devils, on their part, have made it clear that they want a permanent exit.

The Brazil international remains hellbent on moving back to the Estadio Benito Villamarín, where is guaranteed to be a starter. Dragging things until late in the window is Betis’ ploy of getting their way.

However, with time running out, Sky Sports have now revealed that the 25-year-old’s agent has not ruled out a move to the Saudi Pro League, if the deadlock between Betis and United cannot be broken.

Saudi move back on

“Real Betis are still finding it difficult to do a deal for Manchester United forward Antony. The Brazilian international has his heart set on a return to Betis.

“Antony’s agent hasn’t ruled out a move to Saudi Arabia. Time is running out for him to find another club – he is not in Ruben Amorim’s plans.”

Al-Nassr have been credited with an interest, and a move there would financially benefit the 20-time English league champions the most.

INEOS should definitely not bow down to player pressure, and should try and earn as much money as possible from a sale. Antony cannot afford to take the risk of playing hardball with his parent club. Especially given his desire to remain in the Brazil national team ahead of next year’s World Cup.
