Manchester United’s current midfield needs a revamp with new head coach Ruben Amorim looking to sign players who can handle the intensity of his 3-4-3 system.

Christian Eriksen, who enjoyed a mini-renaissance under Erik ten Hag this season, will be the first to be let go despite his impressive form. And Casemiro could soon follow suit.

INEOS’ project involves signing young players with potential instead of big-name stars, which was a norm under the Glazers, as seen during their summer splurge.

And their January business will also be along similar lines with TBR Football claiming the Red Devils will pounce for in-demand Rosenborg youngster Sverre Nypan.

Nypan interest

The midfielder has seven goals and 10 assists in 31 appearances and he impressed against the Old Trafford side during their pre-season friendly.

The Norwegian can play all across the midfield and has even been tried out in front on his own, and this versatility could prove handy for Amorim.

Norway’s league season ends in December and the 20-time English league champions are preparing to swoop in the winter to beat off competition from Europe’s elite clubs.

Premier League rivals Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and Aston Villa have all contacted the 17-year-old’s camp recently while Manchester City and Chelsea are also interested.

Apart from English clubs, Bayern Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Monaco, Atalanta and Napoli are also in the race with the Norway U21 international likely to cost £10 million upfront with another £10 million in potential add-ons.

United are confident of winning the race as they have been looking at Nypan since he was only 14 and they have visited him multiple times.

“TBR Football confirms that United are confident of signing another new midfielder in the near future, Rosenborg’s Sverre Nypan. Rosenborg have told Nypan to begin choosing his next club once their season finishes in early December.

January deal on the cards

“Nypan is available for around £10m, but there could be add-ons taking the deal closer to £20m. As a result, United are working to try and conclude a deal, with Nypan’s camp set to sit down and assess their options.

“Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and Aston Villa have all had contact with Nypan’s representatives in recent months. They are also joined by Man City’s owners the City Football Group and also BlueCo – Chelsea’s parent company.

“Of course, interest in Nypan isn’t limited to the England. Bayern Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Monaco, Atalanta and Napoli are amongst the clubs also keen to try and convince Nypan to sign for them.”

Whether Nypan will have to play in the reserves first or whether he can come straight into the United first team remains to be seen. But the future certainly will look a lot brighter with his signing secured.
