Amorim sticking to his coaching principles

Ruben Amorim has reiterated he will not deviate from his coaching principles, as he sticks with the ideas that he feels landed him the Manchester United job in the first place.
It was only earlier this month when we were heralding a fabulous win in the Manchester derby but three successive Premier League defeats without scoring and a Carabao Cup exit to Tottenham have ensured a deflating end to 2024.
With many questions being asked of the boss in the wake of the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United at Old Trafford, ahead of the weekend’s trip to leaders Liverpool, he was certainly in no mood to sacrifice his methods.
Instead, he will be hoping to make use of some time on the training pitch to improve the harmony of the team.
“I cannot change my idea in one day because we will lose much more now,” he said. “So I will try to do it the way I am trying to do it.
“I adapt for every game – the positioning, the way the players are trying to cope without training. So it’s really hard for them. But I maintain my idea, I want to play a certain way until the end.
“If I change everything now, we are going to lose everything.”
During a separate interview, with Sky Sports, Amorim was insistent that he will remain true to his coaching principles, despite the four successive defeats in all competitions since the exciting derby win at City.
“Like I said, you cannot go back,” he stated. “We have to continue to push. Remember we had like four training sessions all together. So that is important. I know what you guys are trying to reach [for, with your questions] but it is really clear.
“I was here because of my idea and I will continue to do my idea until the end.”
After Sunday’s test on Merseyside, the Emirates FA Cup third-round tie at Arsenal is our second outing of the new year.
